Abstract: A recording medium includes a video stream of a standard-luminance range and a video stream of high-luminance range, which are used selectively in accordance with a playback environment. The recording medium also includes a subtitle stream of the standard-luminance range and a subtitle stream of the high-luminance range, which are used selectively in accordance with the playback environment. A playlist file includes a management region where playback control information relating to a main stream is stored, and includes an extended region. The management region stores first playback control information specifying playing of the video stream of the high-luminance range and the subtitle stream of the high-luminance range in combination. The extended region stores second playback control information specifying playing of the video stream of the standard-luminance range and the subtitle stream of the standard-luminance range in combination.

Abstract: A play back device includes a readout unit and a playback unit. The readout unit reads out an encoded main video stream and an encoded sub-video stream that are recorded in a recording medium. The sub-video stream is a sub-video that is to be superimposed on the main video and displayed. The playback unit plays the main video stream and the sub-video stream that have been read out. The sub-video stream includes multiple sets, each set including a first sub-video stream for a first luminance dynamic range and a second sub-video stream for a second luminance dynamic range, which is wider than the first luminance dynamic range. In the same set in the multiple sets, a registration order of the first sub-video stream in the first database and a registration order of the second sub-video stream in the second database are the same.

Abstract: A recording medium according an aspect of the present disclosure has recorded therein a main video stream where a main video has been encoded, and a sub-video stream where a sub-video, that is to be superimposed on the main video and displayed, has been encoded. The sub-video stream includes bitmap data indicating a design of the sub-video and palette data specifying the display color of the design. The palette data includes first palette data for a first luminance dynamic range (SDR), and second palette data for a second luminance dynamic range (HDR) that is broader than the first dynamic range.

Abstract: A recording medium records data including a digital stream where video information has been encoded. A recording region of the recording medium has a first recording region where reading is performed at a first read rate, and a second recording region where reading is performed at a second read rate that is faster than the first read rate. The data is classified into digital stream data having a real-time attribute and a data file having a non-real-time attribute in a file system of the data. The digital stream is not continuously recorded spanning a boundary between the first recording region and the second recording region. The data file is permitted to be continuously recorded spanning the boundary.

Abstract: A recording medium is provided in which are recorded a stream file including a first luminance video expressed by luminance of a first dynamic range, a second luminance video expressed by luminance of a second dynamic range that is broader than the first dynamic range, and a playlist file for controlling playback of the stream file. The first and second combination information, representing combinations of elementary streams that can be played at the same time, is described in the playlist file. Elementary streams that can be played at the same time with the first luminance video are listed in the first combination information. Elementary streams that can be played at the same time with the second luminance video are listed in the second combination information. The number of elementary streams of a predetermined type listed in the first combination information and the second combination information are equal.

Abstract: A video management method includes: associating video information to be uploaded to a moving image distribution server by a user with user information indicating the user; storing the video information uploaded via the Internet into a storage unit; authorizing a different user to view the video information stored in the storage unit; and causing the user to select one process to be executed, at withdrawal of the user from a group, on the video information that the different user belonging to the group is authorized to view, the process being selected from among (i) deleting the video information; (ii) associating the video information with user information indicating the different user belonging to the group; and (iii) associating the video information with administrator information indicating a virtual administrator of the group.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling a cordless telephone device for use in a system that allows remote control of a home electric appliance. The method includes a first generation step of causing a first generation unit in a handset to encode audio input via a sound receiving unit in the handset to generate a first stream, and a first transmission step of transmitting the first stream to a base unit. The first generation step includes causing the first generation unit to generate instruction bit information and a first instruction stream when a first trigger indicating a request to start the remote control is given to the first generation unit. The first transmission step includes transmitting the instruction bit information and the first instruction stream to the base unit through a multiplexing scheme that is common to transmission of a first stream generated when the first trigger is not given.
