    Abstract: A method includes: detecting, through a sensor, a location and a movement direction of the user and an object around the user; specifying the type and the location of the detected object; if the object is a dangerous object and is located in the movement direction of the user, setting a relative position where the robot is to be located relative to the user to a lead position ahead of the user and in a direction different from the movement direction; driving at least one pair of legs or wheels of the robot to cause the robot to move to the lead position; and driving the at least one pair of legs or wheels to cause the robot to accompany the user in the lead position and induce a change in the movement direction of the user.

    Abstract: A method for controlling a robot in a robot control system is provided. The method includes acquiring an electronic request for the robot to accompany a user when the user moves outside a prescribed area comprising the home of the user and acquiring, from sensors on the robot, operating location information indicating a location of the robot and confirmation information indicating that the robot is near the user. The method also includes transmitting command program instructions for changing a setting of the robot in response to the request when the user has moved outside the prescribed area, wherein the changing the setting of the robot includes increasing a permitted speed of the robot based upon access rights that permit the robot to move at a higher speed when located outside of the home of the user.

    Abstract: A robot detects, through a sensor, the location and movement direction of a user and an object near the user, sets a nearby ground area in front at the feet of the user according to the detected location and movement direction of the user, controls an illumination device in the robot to irradiate the nearby ground area with light while driving at least one pair of legs or wheels of the robot to cause the robot to accompany the user, specifies the type and the location of the detected object, and if the object is a dangerous object and is located ahead of the user, controls the illumination device to irradiate a danger area including at least a portion of the dangerous object with light in addition to irradiating the nearby ground area with light.
