    Abstract: A system for an enhanced X2 interface in a mobile operator core network is disclosed, comprising: a Long Term Evolution (LTE) core network packet data network gateway (PGW); an evolved NodeB (eNodeB) connected to the LTE PGW; a Wi-Fi access point (AP) connected to the LTE PGW via a wireless local area network (WLAN) gateway; and a coordinating node positioned as a gateway between the LTE PGW and the eNodeB, and positioned as a gateway between the LTE PGW and the Wi-Fi AP, the coordinating node further comprising: a network address translation (NAT) module; and a protocol module for communicating to the eNodeB and the Wi-Fi AP to request inter-radio technology (inter-RAT) handovers of a user equipment (UE) from the eNodeB to the Wi-Fi AP and to forward packets intended for the UE from the eNodeB to the Wi-Fi AP.

    Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for providing software provisioning of functionality in a wireless communications device. Software-enabling functionality may include systems for granting a license to intellectual property or other pre-embedded functionality within a device. Communications to and from the device may be used to send or receive activation messages and/or licensing messages. Network capabilities may be provisioned using activation messages sent over the network. Activation messages may be sent in-band or out-of-band, for a device connected to the Internet and/or a mobile operator core network. Licenses may be required for any functions or intellectual property present on a given device. Activation may enable logical modules of a system-on-chip (SOC), functions of a software-defined radio (SDR), baseband, or DSP core. The disclosed systems and methods could thereby provide a new, flexible paradigm, namely, “Silicon as a Service (SaaS).”

    Abstract: A base station is disclosed, comprising: a processor; a memory coupled to the processor; a base station access radio coupled to the processor; a user equipment module, coupled to the processor, for providing a backhaul link for the base station; and a sniffing circuit coupled to the processor. The sniffing circuit further comprises: a radio receiver coupled to an amplifier and a filter, the amplifier and the filter both capable of being used across a plurality of frequencies; and a baseband processor coupled to the radio receiver, configured to convert a received signal from the radio receiver to a baseband frequency, to determine whether the received signal is one of a 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, or 5G signal, to measure a signal strength of the received signal, and to identify a synchronization signal within the received signal.

    Abstract: A method is described, comprising: creating, at a coordinating server, a user page cache table, the user page cache table associates a user equipment (UE) identifier with a last known location of the UE and a virtual base station instance; creating, at the coordinating server, a neighbor relation table, the neighbor relation table associates each cell to neighbor cells; receiving, at the coordinating server from a core network, a paging message for a user equipment (UE), the paging message comprises a tracking area identity (TAI), the UE identifier, and the virtual base station instance; querying, at the coordinating server, in the user page cache table based on the UE identifier received in the paging message to identify the virtual base station instance and the last known location; forwarding, from the coordinating server to the last known location of the UE, the paging message based on the queried last known location.
