    Abstract: The present invention provides a device for controlling the time period required to remove a server from a slot. The time period is sufficient for data to be saved from the server prior to power being shut off to the server and its removal from the slot. The device has an arm with a proximal end and a distal end. The arm is mounted for rotation about a first axis from a closed position to an open position. A mechanism applies a motive force to the arm to bias the arm to the open position.

    Abstract: A connector consisting of a body, a first slot, a second slot, a first terminal, and a second terminal is disclosed. The first slot is provided on the body to receive a first printed circuit board (PCB). The second slot is provided on the body to receive a second PCB. The first slot and the second slot are separate and distinct slots. When the first PCB and the second PCB are received in the first slot and the second slot, respectively, the first terminal electrically connects the first PCB and the second PCB, and the second terminal connects to only the second PCB. Providing the first slot on the connector allows adding expansion cards, control cards, and the like to enhance functionality of computing systems.

    Abstract: A connector assembly for connecting an upper circuit board to a lower circuit board is disclosed. The upper circuit board includes a series of fastener holes for a fastening device allowing attachment to the lower circuit board. The connector assembly has a support bracket with access holes aligned with the holes of the upper circuit board. The support bracket is configurable to be positioned over the upper circuit board. The connector assembly has a moveable cover bracket having a series of access holes. The cover bracket is suspended between the support bracket and the cover bracket. The cover bracket is moveable between an open position aligning the access holes with the access holes of the support bracket, and a closed position. In the closed position, the cover bracket blocks access between the access holes of the support bracket and the holes of the upper circuit board.

    Abstract: An apparatus for reverse mounting an electronic device in a server housing is provided. The apparatus includes a first bracket, a second bracket, and a coupling. The first bracket couples to the device body and extends outward from the device body toward a front rail of the server housing. The first bracket includes a first end configured to releasably couple to front rail of the server housing. The second bracket includes a protrusion that extends outward from the device body in an opposite direction relative to the first bracket. The coupling includes a first portion that couples to a rear rail of the server housing and a second portion defining a channel that receives the protrusion of the second bracket.

    Abstract: A modularized server comprises a rack, a switching mechanism, and a removable electronic device. The rack comprises a first slot and a second slot. The switching mechanism is disposed on the rack. When the removable electronic device is inserted into the first slot, the removable electronic device is operable to drive the switching mechanism to a switching position. The switching mechanism at the switching position can stop another removable electronic device different from a specific design of the removable electronic device from being inserted into the second slot.

    Abstract: An optical transceiver for connection between an optical socket and an electrical socket is disclosed. The optical transceiver includes an electrical connector and an optical connector. The optical transceiver has an electronics housing holding the electrical and optical connectors in relative position to each other allowing the simultaneous connection to an electrical socket and an optical socket. The electrical and optical connectors may be moved between an extended position and a retracted position relative to the electronics housing when being engaged or disengaged with respective electrical and optical sockets.

    Abstract: A protective cover is provided in which connectors on a distal end of a motherboard are protected with the protective cover in a closed configuration. Sliding the motherboard into position within a chassis with the protective cover in the closed configuration automatically causes the protective cover to assume an open configuration, thereby exposing the connectors. Withdrawing the motherboard from the chassis results in automatically closing the protective cover through the operation of biasing elements (e.g., springs) that bias the protective cover into a normally closed configuration.

    Abstract: A system of modular fans for a network device is disclosed. The network device includes a rack assembly having side walls forming an enclosure with a plurality of sled slots accessible from a rear end. A plurality of operation sleds are mountable on one of the plurality of sled slots. A plurality of removable fan modules is provided. Each of the removable fan modules are installed in one of the operation sleds. The removable fan modules are individually removable from the operation sleds and therefore may be swapped out while the rest of the components in the network device remain operational.
