The method for transmitting the ARQ block includes when transmitting the ARQ block to a receiving stage in a Not Sent state, transitioning to an Outstanding state to wait to receive one of an ACK and a NACK for the ARQ block, when receiving the NACK for the ARQ block from the receiving stage in the Outstanding state, transitioning to a Waiting for Retransmission state, when determining to retransmit the ARQ block for the NACK by splitting the ARQ block into at least two ARQ sub-blocks in the Waiting for Retransmission state, transitioning to a Rearrangement state, retransmitting the ARQ block for the NACK by splitting the ARQ block into at least two ARQ sub-blocks in the Rearrangement state, and when receiving an ACK for every ARQ sub-block having the same ARQ Sequence Number (SN) in the Rearrangement state, transitioning to a Done state and finishing transmission of the ARQ block having the ARQ SN.

A method and apparatus for transmitting paging control information in a wireless communication system are provided. A method of operating a Base Station (BS) for paging in a superframe-based wireless communication system includes determining a paging listening interval, determining an interval of at least one or more subframes before the paging listening interval, as a paging control listening interval, and, during the paging control listening interval, broadcasting a paging control message.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for supporting simultaneous transmission of a plurality of broadcast management messages in a wireless communication system are provided. A method in a Base Station (BS) for supporting transmission of a broadcast management message in a wireless communication system includes generating one or more broadcast management messages whose transmission is required, and constructing an Advanced-MAP Information Element (A-MAP IE) of a number, which is predefined on the basis of a predefined position within a subframe, as a Broadcast A-MAP IE. Here, the Broadcast A-MAP IE comprises allocation information of a broadcast burst for transmission of the generated one or more broadcast management messages.

The relay includes: a receiver to receive, from a transmission apparatus, first radio resource allocation information with respect to a first radio resource and second radio resource allocation information with respect to a second radio resource, and to receive first data from the transmission apparatus using the first radio resource allocation information; and a transmitter to transmit the received first data to a receiving apparatus using the second radio resource allocation information.
Abstract:
A relay including a receiver to receive from a base station, data, a first data frame, and a second data frame, the first data frame includes data and data transmission time information associated with the data, and the second data frame includes map information corresponding to the data and map information transmission time information associated with the map information; a data frame computation unit to compute a third data frame and a fourth data frame, wherein the third data frame is used to transmit the data to a terminal and the fourth data frame is used to transmit the map information to the terminal; and a transmitter to transmit the data to the terminal using the map information when the third data frame is the same as the fourth data frame.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for negotiating sleep cycle setting between a base station and a mobile station in a wireless communication system are provided. A method for operating a transmitter to negotiate sleep cycle setting of a mobile station in a wireless communication system includes transmitting a DSx request message including sleep cycle setting information to a receiver, and receiving a DSx response message, which includes at least one of acceptance/refusal information about DSx and acceptance/refusal information about sleep cycle setting change, from the receiver. Herein, the DSx is one of a Dynamic Service Addition (DSA), a Dynamic Service Change (DSC), and a Dynamic Service Deletion (DSD).
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for supporting multicast communication in a broadband wireless access system are provided. A method of a Mobile Station (MS) for supporting multicast communication in a wireless access system includes acquiring decoding parameters by receiving an Advanced Air Interface Enhanced-Multicast and Broadcast Service configuration (AAI-E-MBS_CFG) message from a Base Station (BS), establishing an E-MBS service flow by sending and receiving AAI Dynamic Service Addition-request/response (AAI_DSA-REQ/RSP) messages to and from the BS, and decoding E-MBS MAP received from the BS through the established E-MBS service flow using the acquired decoding parameters. The E-MBS MAP includes information for decoding multicast bursts.
Abstract:
A communication system using a hierarchical modulation scheme and/or a network coding scheme is provided. A relay node included in the communication system may generate a relay packet by applying a network coding scheme to a hierarchically modulated source packet and to a destination packet received from a destination node. The relay packet is transmitted to a source node and a destination node, and the source node and the destination node may extract a desired packet from a relay packet. The communication system also may adaptively determine an optimal communication mode.
Abstract:
To retain a beam direction of beamforming in a wireless communication system, an apparatus for the beamforming includes a detector for measuring change of at least one of a movement and a motion of the apparatus; and a processor for determining a beam control parameter for aligning a beam direction with a counterpart apparatus by compensating for the change of the beam direction according to at least one of the movement and the motion.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for simultaneously communicating on at least two carrier frequencies, of which at least one carrier frequency is a licensed band and at least one carrier frequency is an unlicensed band are provided. The method includes broadcasting an operating status of the unlicensed band to a receiver device; collecting feedback data regarding channel conditions from the receiver device for both the licensed band and unlicensed band; determining, when a bandwidth request is received from the receiver device, whether to use the unlicensed band based on the channel conditions; transmitting an unlicensed band scheduling indication to the receiver device; and communicating with the receiver device using both the licensed band and the unlicensed band according to the transmitted unlicensed band scheduling indication.
