Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing, electronic circuitry, a first arm member, and a spring. The housing includes a first housing section and a second housing section. The electronic circuitry is mounted in the housing. The first arm member is connected between the first housing section and the second housing section. The first arm member is configured to move a portion of the second housing section away from the first housing section. The spring is connected between the second housing section and the first arm member. The spring is configured to exert a torque between the second housing section and the first arm member.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a hinge mechanism for allowing relative movement between a first and a second member of a device, the hinge mechanism arranged to connect the first device member about a first pivot axis and the second device member about a second pivot axis, and wherein the hinge mechanism comprises a synchronization mechanism having a strap arranged to provide connection of the first and second device members across an imaginary line between the first and second pivot axes to provide joint movement about both first and second pivot axes during operation of the hinge.
Abstract:
A hinge for use in an electronic device has an inner hinge part and an outer hinge part for providing rotatability between two device parts, allowing the device to open and close, for example. The inner hinge part has a peripheral surface defining the axis for rotation and a through channel along the axis for cable routing from one device part to another, for example. The peripheral surface of the inner hinge part has a groove substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis. On the outer hinge part, a ball bearing attached to one end of a spring is used to engage with the groove. The spring is disposed in a channel in the outer hinge part with another end of the spring secured on the outer part by a pin. One or more indents on the groove enable click and stop positions of the hinge.
Abstract:
A modular hinge for mechanically connecting first and second parts of a handheld electronic device, said modular hinge comprising at least two hinge elements, each hinge element comprising an arm and a boss with a through hole for receiving wiring for electrically connecting the first and second parts, said arm being rotatably mounted on said boss, and wherein the hinge elements are mounted on a bracket with said through holes in alignment.
Abstract:
A hand held communications device is provided. The device includes: a circuit board including electronic components; display coupled to the circuit board; a housing substantially surrounding the circuit board and electronic components, wherein the housing includes a base element covering a bottom side of the circuit board and electronic components and a housing element attached to the base element covering a top side of the circuit board and electronic components, wherein the housing element includes a display aperture with the display partially projecting therethrough; and a cover removably connected to the housing by a connection, wherein the cover and the base element substantially enclose the housing element therebetween.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device comprising a image sensor for capturing image data and a audio sensor for capturing audio data. The portable device further comprising a processor coupled to said image sensor and said audio sensor, said processor having a first and second mode of operation, and a capture key coupled to said processor for initiating the first mode of operation, wherein said processor captures audio data and video data in the first mode of operation and is operable to capture audio data in the second mode of operation and the second mode of operation follows the first mode of operation.
Abstract:
A portable electronic apparatus comprising a first part with a first user interface, the first user interface extending along a first plane, and a second part with a second user interface, the second user interface extending along a second plane, the first and second parts arranged to be movable with respect to one another along an axis to provide second user interface retracted and in-use configurations, wherein the apparatus is arranged such that relative movement of the first and second parts along the axis provides the second user interface in the retracted configuration in which the second user interface is stowed away from use, the second user interface plane being in a different plane away from the first plane, and relative movement of the first and second parts along the axis provides the second user interface in the in-use configuration in which the second user interface has been moved from the stowed away position into an in-use position in which the second user interface plane has been moved relatively towards the first plane.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal having three parts rotatably interconnected by hinges. The terminal can be a mobile telephone having an operative position where a microphone and a loudspeaker are positioned for conversation. When not in operation, the terminal may be positioned around a user's wrist in a safe manner. Removing the terminal from the wrist requires operation of a release means or the overcoming of a predetermined force, which is a safety measure of the hinges and the terminal. The hinges provide a combination of snap or automatic rotation and freely selective rotational positions of the parts of the terminal.
Abstract:
A wearable electronic device which includes a base, a display mounted to the base, a user-controllable cursor, a cursor controller for allowing the user to control the position of the cursor on the display, wherein the cursor controller is responsive to a control stimulus from the user acting in a cursor control area remote from the base.
Abstract:
This aims at providing a hinge device compact in size, and at securing a space sufficient for an FPC, etc. in manufacturing a cellular phone compact by use of the hinge device. The hinge device includes a shaft substantially long, a fixed cam provided allowing the shaft to rotate and having an angle holder, a movable cam provided to rotate about the shaft with rotation of the shaft and to slide along the shaft, and having an angle holder for holding at a predetermined angle an own rotation angle relative to the fixed cam cooperatively with the angle holder of the fixed cam, an elastic element always biasing the movable cam toward the fixed cam, a first arm fixed to the fixed cam, and a second arm fixed to the shaft. Here, the elastic element is to have a diameter provided as comparatively small correspondingly to the shaft substantially long.
