Abstract:
A system and method are provided for reducing signaling overhead in a wireless communication system. The method includes establishing device-to-device communication between a first User Equipment (UE1) and a second User Equipment (UE2) over a locally routed data path; sending, by the UE1, a signal quality measurement report to a network; identifying, by the network, that the UE1 is locally routed for proximity services with the UE2; applying, by the network, cell biasing to a serving cell for at least one of the UE1 or the UE2; verifying, after the cell biasing, whether the at least one of the UE1 or the UE2 sustains a connection with the serving cell; and continuing the proximity services through the locally routed data path, if the at least one of the UE1 or the UE2 sustains the connection with the serving cell.
Abstract:
A method for sharing a radio frequency (RF) resource among multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) stacks in a multi-SIM device, includes: receiving two paging requests from the multi-SIM stacks for performing communication with a network entity via the RF resource; transmitting the two paging received requests to the network entity via the RF resource; detecting a page sharing conflict between the two paging requests of the multi-SIM stacks; determining, based on the detection of the page sharing conflict, a connection status of a connection between each stack of the multi-SIM stacks and the network entity. The connection status indicates a communication medium via which each stack of the multi-SIM stacks is connected with the network entity. The method includes prioritizing, based on the determined connection status, a grant of the RF resource to a stack of the multi-SIM stacks whose connection status indicates a cellular connection as the communication medium.
Abstract:
A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for managing a failure in a registration for accessing a network slice, and the UE including processing circuitry configured to perform the method, are provided. The method includes sending a registration request message to a first wireless network while the UE is in a tracking area of a registration area, the registration request message including a Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI) corresponding to the network slice, receiving a registration reject message from the first wireless network indicating that the network slice is unavailable, storing a Tracking Area Identifier (TAI) of the tracking area to a rejected list based on the TAI of the tracking area being included the registration reject message, and establishing a connection with a second wireless network in response to the receiving.
Abstract:
A method for connecting to a Registered Public Land Mobile Network (RPLMN) after receiving an accept message with limited service from a user selected CSG cell, which is associated to a different PLMN than the RPLMN during manual CSG selection mode is disclosed. The method includes connecting to the RPLMN based on the availability of the user selected CSG cell in UTRAN. If the user selected CSG cell is not available in UTRAN, then the method includes connecting to the RPLMN by the UE using the stored duplicate value of the RPLMN. If the user selected CSG cell is available in UTRAN, then the method includes sending an ATTACH request to the user selected CSG cell without disabling the EUTRA capabilities. If the ATTACH request is failed, then the method includes connecting to the RPLMN using the stored duplicate value of the RPLMN.

Abstract:
Methods and User Equipment (UE) for managing IMS call over LTE in SRVCC area are provided. The method may include detecting, by an IMS client, that the IMS call over LTE is in an alert state, and a Radio Resource Control (RRC) reconfiguration cells are configured for the IMS call over LTE. Further, the method may include initiating by the IMS client a timer with a value less than a data inactivity timer value from a network entity. Further, the method may include detecting by IMS client that the timer has expired before establishing the IMS call over LTE and restarting by the IMS client the timer. Furthermore, the method may include sending by the IMS client a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message to the network entity.
Abstract:
Some example embodiments disclose methods for selecting registered public land mobile network (RPLMN) radio access technology (RAT) modes in wireless communication devices. The method as disclosed herein includes determining location information of the wireless communication device; validating the location information; deriving a RPLMN from the validated location information when the validating is successful; storing a RPLMN access technology (AccTech) based on the derived RPLMN; and selecting a RAT mode using the stored RPLMN AccTech.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus are provided for processing a Circuit-Switched (CS) call by User Equipment (UE) that is camped on a CSG cell, when a manually selected CSG cell is in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), which is different from a Registered PLMN (RPLMN). The method includes registering, by the UE, with a manually selected Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) cell of a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), which is different from a Registered PLMN (RPLMN) of the UE; detecting the CS call; and processing the CS call in a non-CSG cell, when the manually selected CSG cell is unable to process the CS call.
Abstract:
NAS signaling between a UE and a server is enhanced by performing one of: sending a registration complete message to the server using existing NAS signaling and without starting a release timer in response to receiving an RC_ID deletion IE in a registration accept message; and not sending the registration complete message to the server in response to receiving the RC_ID deletion IE in the registration accept message. A registration procedure is reinstated based on a stored RC_ID.
Abstract:
A method for selecting a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) in a wireless communication system by a User Equipment (UE), the method includes detecting, by the UE, that the UE is operating in an interworking mode, triggering, by the UE, a manual scan in the interworking mode for acquiring a list of PLMNs in the wireless communication system, and causing, by the UE, a display to output the list of PLMNs in response to the triggering.
