    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for determining operational health of a pump. An example method may include commencing operation of a processing device to monitor operational health of a pump for pumping a fluid at a wellsite, wherein the pump may be a reciprocating pump. During pumping operations of the pump, the processing device may receive pressure measurements of the fluid at a fluid inlet manifold and/or a fluid outlet manifold of the pump, receive position measurements of fluid displacing members of the pump, detect irregular pressure measurements based on the received pressure measurements, determine operational phase of the pump based on the received position measurements, and determine which of fluid inlet and outlet valves of the pump is leaking based on operational phase during which the irregular pressure measurements are detected.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a vertical position of a tool joint between two pipe segments of a drill string relative to a rig floor are disclosed. A camera or other suitable optical device is positioned to observe a drill string as it is raised and lowered out of and into a wellbore. The camera is equipped to identify a feature of the pipe segments, and based on a knowledge of the dimensions of the various pipe segments, to locate the tool joint vertically relative to the rig floor. Knowing the vertical position of the tool joint allows automatic operations to be carried out, such as assembling and disassembling the pipe segments from the drill string.

    Abstract: A method includes determining a rotational position of a crankshaft in a multiplex pump from one or more sensors disposed on the crankshaft, determining a position of each of a plurality of pistons along a corresponding pump bore in relation to a total stroke length of each piston and a connecting rod length, calculating an individual theoretical displaced volume of fluid for each of the pump bores in the multiplex pump based on the rotational position of the crankshaft, and summing the individual theoretical displaced volumes to determine a total theoretical pumped volume by the multiplex pump. A calibration method includes determination of the multiplex pump efficiency versus speed and discharge pressure, and the effect of pump leakage and valve closing delay on the pump efficiency. Verification of the pump performance and efficiency may be controlled during pumping to insure the validity of the last calibration data set.
