Abstract: An increase in fabricating cost of a display module including a touch sensor is suppressed. A display device which includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and liquid crystal interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate includes a display portion. The display portion includes a sensor unit and a pixel. The sensor unit includes a first transistor, a first conductive film electrically connected to a gate of the first transistor, and a second conductive film. At least part of the first conductive film overlaps with at least part of the second conductive film. The pixel includes a second transistor, and a pixel electrode electrically connected to the second transistor. At least part of the pixel electrode overlaps with at least part of the first conductive film.

Abstract: A display device in which a peripheral circuit portion has high operation stability is provided. The display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate. A first insulating layer is provided over a first surface of the first substrate. A second insulating layer is provided over a first surface of the second substrate. The first surface of the first substrate and the first surface of the second substrate face each other. An adhesive layer is provided between the first insulating layer and the second insulating layer. A protective film in contact with the first substrate, the first insulating layer, the adhesive layer, the second insulating layer, and the second substrate is formed in the vicinity of a peripheral portion of the first substrate and the second substrate.

Abstract: A display device with a high aperture ratio is provided. The display device includes, in a pixel, a first transistor, a second transistor, a first insulating layer, a second insulating layer, a conductive layer, a pixel electrode, a layer containing a liquid crystal material, and a common electrode. The first insulating layer is positioned over a channel formation region of the first transistor. The conductive layer is positioned over the first insulating layer. The second insulating layer is positioned over the first transistor, the second transistor, the first insulating layer, and the conductive layer. The pixel electrode is positioned over the second insulating layer, the layer containing a liquid crystal material is positioned over the pixel electrode, and the common electrode is positioned over the layer containing a liquid crystal material. The common electrode overlaps with the conductive layer with the layer containing a liquid crystal material and the pixel electrode therebetween. The pixel includes a first connection portion where the conductive layer is electrically connected to the first transistor and a second connection portion where the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the second transistor. The conductive layer, the pixel electrode, and the common electrode each have a function of transmitting visible light.

Abstract: A novel input/output device that is highly convenient or reliable is provided. The input/output device includes a display portion and an input portion, and the display portion includes a liquid crystal element. The liquid crystal element includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a layer containing a liquid crystal material, a first alignment film, and a second alignment film, and the second electrode is provided such that an electric field is applied to the layer containing a liquid crystal material between the first electrode and the second electrode. The layer containing a liquid crystal material scatters incident light with first scattering intensity when the electric field is in a first state, the layer containing a liquid crystal material scatters the incident light with second scattering intensity when the electric field is in a second state, which is higher than that in the first state, and the second scattering intensity is 10 or more times as high as the first scattering intensity. The layer containing a liquid crystal material contains a liquid crystal material and a polymer material, and the layer containing a liquid crystal material is stabilized by the polymer material. The input portion includes a sensing region, the input portion senses an object approaching the sensing region, the sensing region includes a region overlapping with a pixel, and the sensing region includes a sensor.

Abstract: A display device suitable for application is provided. A display device capable of displaying images with high quality and with low power consumption is provided. The display device includes a first display portion, a second display portion, a non-display portion, a first substrate, and a second substrate. The first substrate and the second substrate are provided to face each other with the first display portion, the second display portion, and the non-display portion provided therebetween. The first display portion and the second display portion are provided apart from each other with the non-display portion therebetween. A plurality of liquid crystal elements are arranged in a matrix in the first display portion. A plurality of light-emitting elements are arranged in a matrix in the second display portion. The liquid crystal element reflects light to the second substrate side. The light-emitting element emits light to the second substrate side.

Abstract: To provide a display device with a novel structure that can achieve both thickness reduction and favorable display quality. In a structure of a display device including a liquid crystal layer between a pixel electrode and a counter electrode, a common electrode and an electrode of a capacitor in a touch sensor on the counter electrode side are formed integrally and supplied with a pulse signal. On the element substrate side, a signal to be supplied to a capacitor line that forms a capacitance with the pixel electrode is in conjunction with the pulse signal so as to cancel a change in an electric field applied to the liquid crystal layer. Such a structure can achieve a display device with a touch sensor function that can cancel a change in an electric field applied to a liquid crystal layer even when the electric field is changed by a pulse signal.
