    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. The disclosure relates to encoding and decoding by using a polar code in a wireless communication system, and an operation method of a transmission-end apparatus includes determining segmentation and the number of segments, based on parameters associated with encoding of information bits, encoding the information bits according to the number of check bits, and transmitting the encoded information bits to a reception-end apparatus.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a communication technique for converging a 5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate beyond a 4G system with an IoT technology, and a system therefor. The disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart home, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, health care, digital educations, retail business, security and safety-related services, etc.) based on a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. The disclosure provides an apparatus and a method for efficiently decoding a low-density parity-check (LDPC) code in a communication or broadcasting system. Further, the disclosure provides an LDPC decoding device and method for improving decoding performance without increasing the decoding complexity by applying suitable decoding scheduling according to the structural or algebraic characteristics of the LDPC code in a process of decoding the LDPC code using layered scheduling or a scheme similar thereto. Further, a method of a low density parity check (LDPC) decoding performed by a receiving device in a wireless communication system is provided, the method comprising: receiving, from a transmitting device, a signal corresponding to input bits; performing demodulation based on the signal to determine values corresponding to the input bits; identifying a number of the input bits based on the signal; identifying a base matrix and a lifting size based on the number of the input bits; identifying a parity check matrix based on the base matrix; identifying an index corresponding to the values; determining a number of layers based on the index and the lifting size; determining an order for LDPC decoding based on the number of layers and a predetermined sequence; and performing LDPC decoding to determine the input bits based on the values, the parity check matrix and the order.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate than a 4G communication system such as LTE. The present invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding a channel in a communication or broadcasting system, comprising the steps of: determining an input bit size (CBS); determining a code rate (R); determining a size (Z) of a block; comparing the determined CBS and code rate with predetermined reference values; determining an LDPC sequence to perform LDPC encoding according to the comparison result; and performing LDPC encoding and decoding on the basis of the LDPC sequence and the block size. Further, the present invention comprises the steps of: determining a code rate (R) indicated by a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) index; determining a transport block size; and determining either a first basic matrix or a second basic matrix as a basic matrix on the basis of the transport block size and the code rate.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding packets using a polar code is provided. The method includes acquiring a plurality of blocks constituting the packet, extracting a plurality of codeword candidates corresponding to the blocks, selecting some of the codeword candidates in a descending order of posterior probability among the codeword candidates corresponding to the blocks, combining the selected codeword candidates into a plurality of codeword combinations, selecting a codeword combination having the highest posterior probability and passed Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) test without error among the plurality of codeword combinations, and decoding the selected codeword combination. The packet encoding and decoding apparatus and method of the present disclosure is capable of encoding and decoding packets in a unit of blocks efficiently.
