Abstract: According to certain embodiments of the disclosure, an electronic device comprises a housing having an inner space; a display disposed in the inner space of the housing and visible from an outside of the housing, the display further comprising: a display panel having a first opening, and at least one additional layer stacked under the display panel and having a second opening corresponding to and larger than the first opening; and a camera module disposed in the inner space under the at least one additional layer, and facing the second opening, the camera module further comprising: a lens housing, a plurality of lenses disposed in and supported by the lens housing, the plurality of lenses comprising a first lens closest to the display panel, and at least one image sensor aligned with the plurality of lenses, wherein the first lens is disposed to coincide with an upper surface of the lens housing or at least partially protrude from the upper surface of the lens housing.

Abstract: An operation method and an electronic device are provided. A phone call is established while a display of the electronic device is activated. A proximity sensor of the electronic device is turned on. A supply of power to the proximity sensor is controlled to emit light through a plurality of pixels in a portion of the display corresponding to a position of the proximity sensor and the light emitted by the proximity sensor and reflected by an object is received to identify a distance between the electronic device and the object, if the plurality of the pixels in the position corresponding to the proximity sensor are deactivated during the phone call. The supply of power to the proximity sensor is blocked if the plurality of pixels in the portion of the display corresponding to the proximity sensor are activated during the phone call.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a housing having a hole formed therein, an audio device inside the housing and communicating with an outside of the electronic device through the hole, a gas sensor inside the housing and communicating with the outside through the hole, a proximity sensor inside the housing, a wireless communication module inside the housing, and a processor inside the housing. The processor is configured to acquire data associated with air outside the electronic device by using the gas sensor, to recognize a user gesture of starting a proximity call by using the proximity sensor, and to calculate air quality of the outside air based on at least one of data acquired by the gas sensor before the proximity call starting gesture is recognized and data acquired by the gas sensor after a gesture of ending the proximity call is recognized. Abstract: Disclosed are an electronic device and method for detecting the proximity of an object. In an embodiment, the electronic device includes a communication module, a sound emitter, a sound receiver, and a processor. The processor receives at least one part of a voice signal from a calling party through the communication module, and determines whether there is a voice idle time in the at least one part of the voice signal. When the voice idle time is present in the at least one part of the voice signal, the processor outputs a sound wave in an inaudible frequency band through the sound emitter during the voice idle time. Then the processor receives, through the sound receiver, sound wave in the inaudible frequency band reflected from an object. Next, the processor may detect whether the object is proximate to the electronic device using the reflected sound wave in the inaudible frequency band
