Abstract: Provided are a discovery method and apparatus. A communication method for a user equipment (UE) may include: receiving first resource information indicating a first resource region and second resource information indicating a second resource region from an evolved Node B (eNB); receiving a first message from a second UE via the first resource region; checking whether the contents of the first message match the UE; and sending, when the contents of the first message match the UE, a second message associated with the first message to the second UE via the second resource region. A user equipment (UE) may include: a communication unit configured to receive first resource information indicating a first resource region and second resource information indicating a second resource region from an evolved Node B (eNB), and receive a first message from a second UE via the first resource region; and a control unit configured to check whether the contents of the first message match the UE.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for synchronization between electronic devices and, more particularly, to a synchronization method and apparatus for wireless communication between electronic devices. As a synchronization method for an electronic device performing wireless communication with other electronic devices, the method may include: checking, when two or more reference synchronization signals are received within a preset period, whether the received reference synchronization signals are synchronized; determining, when the received reference synchronization signals are not synchronized, to operate as a device sending a reference synchronization signal of a class lower than or equal to that of the lowest class reference synchronization signal among the received reference synchronization signals; sending a reference synchronization signal at a preset time in a synchronization frame designed to preserve temporal orthogonality between classes; and performing synchronization between reference synchronization signals in cooperation with different devices having sent reference synchronization signals.

A method for establishing a secure communication between a UE and a relay UE is provided. The method includes deriving a ProSe traffic key (PTK) of the relay UE by using a key derivation function (KDF) of at least one of a ProSe group key (PGK) of the UE, a PTK identification (ID) and a ID of the relay UE, and transmitting a security key response message comprising at least the PTK of the relay UE, the PTK ID and PGK ID, to the relay UE. The at least the PTK of relay UE. PTK ID and PGK is used to derive a security key for the D2D group communication between the UE and relay UE.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method and an apparatus that may repeatedly transmit signals to cope with and reduce transmission errors in device-to-device (D2D) communication are provided. The method includes receiving, upon generation of data to be transmitted to a receiving user equipment (UE) (RX UE), allocation of resources to be used for D2D communication, transmitting a scheduling assignment (SA) containing identification information of at least one RX UE to the at least one RX UE, assigning at least one hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process for the identification information of the at least one RX UE, and transmitting data to the at least one RX UE based on the HARQ process. Accordingly, it is possible to remove factors causing system performance degradation when retransmission operation for communication between a UE and a base station (eNB) is introduced to D2D communication.
