    Abstract: A communication method and system for converging a fifth generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a fourth generation (4G) system with a technology for internet of things (IoT) are provided. The communication method and system may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method of a terminal for receiving data in a cellular network is provided. The method comprises receiving a synchronization signal block (SS block) including at least one synchronization signal and a broadcast channel from a base station, identifying an offset between the SS block and a resource block (RB) grid from system information in the broadcast channel, and determining the resource block grid based on the offset.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for energy saving operations in a wireless communication system. A method of a UE comprises: receiving, from a base station, an RRC message indicating (i) a payload size of cell DTX/DRX activation/deactivation DCI for at least one cell group and (ii) a starting position of a cell DTX/DRX information for at least one cell in DCI; receiving the cell DTX/DRX activation/deactivation DCI; identifying the cell DTX/DRX information for the at least one cell in the DCI based on (i) the payload size of the cell DTX/DRX activation/deactivation DCI corresponding to the at least one cell group and (ii) the starting position of the cell DTX/DRX information corresponding to the at least one cell; and activating or deactivating a cell DTX/DRX configuration of the at least one cell based on the identified cell DTX/DRX information in the cell DTX/DRX activation/deactivation DCI.

    Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for a sidelink synchronization signal block (S-SSB) structure for larger subcarrier spacing. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system includes determining a number M of consecutive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols for a sidelink synchronization signals and physical sidelink broadcast channel (S-SS/PSBCH) block and determining a slot group of S consecutive slots including a number NSSB of S-SS/PSBCH blocks. The method further includes determining a time domain pattern for a number NperiodS-SSB of S-SS/PSBCH blocks within a period and receiving the S-SS/PSBCH block based on the time domain pattern.

    Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for flexible resource allocation for sidelink transmissions. A method of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system includes receiving higher layer parameters including a bitmap; determining a first number S>1; and determining a sidelink resource pool based on the bitmap and the first number S, wherein bits in the bitmap indicate whether a group of S consecutive slots are included in the sidelink resource pool. The method further includes determining a second number L; determining L consecutive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols within the S consecutive slots, wherein the L consecutive OFDM symbols are used for a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) or a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH); and receiving the PSSCH or the PSCCH.
