Abstract:
An energy efficient and environmentally benign lithium recovery process is described. The process comprises extracting lithium from the brine source using a ion withdrawal process to form a lithium extract; providing electricity for the extracting using an energy source; and recovering thermal energy from the energy source for use in the extracting.
Abstract:
A technique facilitates assembly of well equipment at a wellsite. To help lift certain types of well tools, a mounting frame may be releasably coupled to a well string, e.g. a coiled tubing string. A cable guide and a cable attachment member may be releasably coupled to a well tool which is to be moved into engagement with the well string. A cable may be routed from the cable attachment member, through the cable guide, to a cable mounting feature of the mounting frame, and to a winch. The winch is operable to draw in the cable so as to move the well tool into alignment with and up into engagement with a connector of the well string.
Abstract:
An apparatus having a plurality of pressure exchangers. Each pressure exchanger includes a first conduit and a second conduit and is operable for pressurizing a low-pressure dirty fluid via a high-pressure clean fluid. Each first conduit conveys the high-pressure clean fluid into a corresponding one of the pressure exchangers and to an adjacent one of the pressure exchangers, and each second conduit conveys a pressurized dirty fluid out of a corresponding one of the pressure exchangers and from the adjacent one of the pressure exchangers. The first conduits collectively form at least a portion of a high-pressure clean fluid manifold distributing the high-pressure clean fluid among the pressure exchangers, and the second conduits collectively form at least a portion of a pressurized dirty fluid manifold combining pressurized dirty fluid collectively discharged from the pressure exchangers.
Abstract:
A substantially continuous stream of aqueous fluid and a substantially continuous stream of gel having a first concentration are combined to form a substantially continuous stream of gel having a second concentration. The second concentration is substantially lower than the first concentration. The gel having the second concentration may thereafter be utilized in conjunction with a well fracturing operation.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques for locating a tool component in a channel of a blowout preventer. The system and technique may include the use of glide rams that are configured to sealably engage a deployment bar of a toolstring supporting the tool component in the channel. The glide rams may allow for movement of the deployment bar and toolstring while maintaining the seal. Due to greater diameter of the tool component, contact with the rams may be detected in the form of a spike in load detected at an oilfield surface by equipment supporting the conveyance means for the toolstring. Thus, tool component location may be ascertained. This same diameter difference of the tool component may also be utilized to deflect a member in the channel for sake of tool location.
Abstract:
A method moves a tube wave reflector in a well, generates a tube wave, receives a reflection, and determines the depth of one or more reflector locations from the elapsed time. Also, a method to locate a feature in a well deploys a bottom hole assembly (BHA), generates acoustic noise from the BHA, and autocorrelates to determine the BHA depth. Also, a system has a coiled tubing string to a BHA, a surface wave generator, a surface and/or distributed receiver, and a recorder to determine elapsed times between generation and receipt.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are disclosed for measuring a rheology indicator in a rheometer utilizing a rheometer attachment including a shaft having a shaft axis, an outer surface, and a plurality of helical vanes each extending radially from the outer surface.
Abstract:
A mixing system and method for mixing a wellsite fluid including a mixture is provided. The mixing system includes a mixing unit, feed valves, and a calibrator. The mixing unit includes a mixing tank having mixing bins to pass the mixture therethrough, mixers positionable in the mixing tank, and a driver to drive the mixers. The feed valves selectively permit the components to pass into the mixing tank. The calibrator includes a calibrator sensor that connects to the mixers to measure equipment parameters thereof, and a controller connectable to the calibrator sensor and the feed valves to selectively adjust an amount of the components passing into the mixing tank based on the equipment parameters. The method may involve measuring equipment parameters of the mixers during mixing and calibrating by selectively adjusting an amount of the components passing into the mixing tank based on the measured equipment parameters.
