摘要: A guide mechanism may include a first jaw and a second jaw pivotably coupled to the first jaw. The jaws may include a guide having a bottom pocket for seating arrangement on a box end of a first tubular and a top funnel for laterally guiding a pin end of a second tubular into the box end. The guide mechanism may also include a linkage system secured to the first and second jaws to control pivoting motion of the jaws. The guide mechanism may also include a bias mechanism coupled to the linkage system and configured to impart a biasing force on the jaws via the linkage system. The biasing force may be adapted to resist opening of the jaws such that opening of the jaws occurs when a lateral force is applied to the guide mechanism that overcomes the biasing force.

摘要: A wellhead is provided having a port or ports about the external periphery of the wellhead. The center bore of each port is generally directed at a point within the wellhead having a location where a portion of a tool or an object is expected. Each port does not provide fluid access from the exterior to the interior of the wellhead and preferably has a flat bottom. Each port is fitted with a sensor and preferably the sensor contacts the bottom of the port. And ultrasonic a sensor emits an ultrasonic waveform which proceeds through the bottom of the port and a portion of the ultrasonic waveform is reflected back to the ultrasonic receiver. A comparison is then performed to compare the predicted value versus the received value to determine whether or not the expected tool or object is in place or partially in place within the wellhead.

摘要: A guide having a tubular body with an inner and outer sleeve each coupled with the tubular body at their uphole end and a downhole end having a slanted face, each of the inner and outer sleeves being slidedable relative one another. A hydraulic is formed between each of the first and second sleeves and containing a hydraulic fluid. The first and second sleeves are transitionable between a first configuration and a second configuration, wherein in the first configuration the downhole end of the second sleeve is extended beyond the downhole end of the first sleeve, and in the second configuration the downhole end of the first sleeve is extended beyond the lower end of the second sleeve. The slanted face of each of the first sleeve and the second sleeves oriented facing different circumferential directions to facilitate engagement with a downhole tool.

摘要: A flexible deployment system is used to deploy subsea/downhole well equipment or modules from a multi-purpose vessel without requiring a moon pool and a derrick or tower. The deployment system may include the vessel and a deployment frame disposed on the vessel. The deployment frame includes a protruding section extending as a cantilever beyond an external edge of the vessel, and the protruding section includes an aperture formed therein to facilitate construction of the well equipment or modules through the protruding section. The deployment system also includes an actuation assembly coupled to the protruding section to selectively transition the protruding section to a collapsed, split, or retracted orientation out of a deployment path of the well equipment or modules. The system allows for controlled deployment of well equipment or modules including at least a string of downhole tools or tubulars coupled end to end from the side of the vessel in a single trip.

摘要: A mobile, coiled tubing drilling apparatus includes a non-rotating mast on a mobile platform. The mast has mounted thereon an injector, a coiled tubing reel having a tubing pay-off point associated therewith, and a tubing control system. The tubing control system is located between the reel and the injector, and includes a tubing abutment adjacent the tubing pay-off point for applying an opposite bend to the tubing during pay-out of the tubing. The reel is mounted for horizontal (x,y) movement such that, during pay-out of the tubing, the tubing pay-off point can be maintained generally above the injector, and can also be moved towards or away from the tubing abutment.

摘要: A high trip rate drilling rig has first handling equipment to transport stands in/out of setback, second handling equipment to deliver stands to/from well center, and a hand-off position to set down stands for exchange between first/second equipment. Second equipment can include a top drive and a delivery arm translatable along the mast past each other, and a clasp on the arm slidable on the stand for constraint below the upper end, which can allow the top drive to engage/disengage the constrained stand above the arm. A high trip rate method transports stands in/out of setback, delivers stands to/from well center, and sets down and hands off stands at hand-off position between the setback transportation and well center delivery. The delivery can include engaging/disengaging the top drive and a stand constrained by the clasp.
