摘要： A solution applicator includes a container, a head and a cap. The head includes a top portion for use in applying the solution, a spike member which is used to pierce or open a membrane and at least one protrusion extending from the head. The cap includes a top portion that receives the spike member, a bottom portion that connects to the container and a middle portion that defines a circumferential channel and an axial channel. The protrusion is received within the circumferential channel and the axial channel such that the head can be moved relative to the cap in first a rotational motion and then an axial motion to open the solution container.

摘要： A dispensing and application apparatus designed to contain pre-measured amounts of a flowable substance. The apparatus comprises a compartment 130 for storing the substance that is partially enclosed by a frangible seal 210, an applicator 100, and an expandable chamber 170 designed to accept and dissipate the hydraulic force created when pressure is applied to the compartment 130, rupturing the frangible seal 210, and expelling the substance into the chamber 170. The applicator 100 is attached to the chamber 170 with an applicator bond area 180. The expandability of the chamber 170 is conferred by expandability of the applicator 100, and is varied in different embodiments by altering the ratio between the area of the applicator bond area 180 and the area of the applicator 100. The frangible seal 210, in one of many embodiments, may be a chevron shape stress riser 250 with a point of inflection 240 oriented towards the compartment 130. A removable cap may cover the applicator.

摘要： A liquid drainage system is disclosed comprising a combination urine meter element and drainage receptacle, the urine meter element having front and rear walls defining a chamber adapted to receive and measure urine output. The urine meter having an inlet port for receiving urine output from a patient, a drip chamber adapted to direct urine from the inlet port to a burette compartment for measuring urine output situated within the chamber beneath the inlet port, an upper portion of the rear wall having an opening therein for discharging urine from the element, and a deflector adjacent an upper portion of the opening in the element and being tapered toward the opening, whereby to direct urine within the element through the opening when the bottom of the element is raised to direct the urine toward the opening; and a preferably flexible drainage receptacle having front and rear walls joined to define a cavity in the receptacle, the front wall of the receptacle having an opening therein joined in fluid communication with the opening in the rear wall of the urine meter element to permit discharge of urine from the urine meter element to the receptacle, the receptacle having a value for emptying the receptacle.

摘要： A coupling for an ostomy appliance that detachably joins an ostomy bag to a faceplate capable of being adhesively secured to a patient's skin about a stoma opening. Each coupling ring is formed of flexible and resilient thermoplastic material, with one of the rings having an axially-extending frusto-conical neck portion and the other ring having a frusto-conical collar portion detachably receiving and sealingly engaging the neck portion. Primary latching is achieved in an annular zone spaced a substantial distance radially outwardly from the area of sealing engagement between the neck and collar portions, such latching action being provided by a shoulder extending about the outer periphery of one of the rings and a latching rib, defining a shoulder-receiving recess, extending about the outer periphery of the other ring.
