摘要： An antenna, and an associated methodology, for a portable radio device, such as a mobile station capable of operation at a plurality of frequency bands spread across a wide range of frequencies. The antenna includes a first antenna patch and a second antenna patch. The first antenna patch comprises an L-shaped patch disposed upon a substrate. A second antenna patch forms a folded patch formed of three contiguous portions, folded about fold lines in a manner to cause the second antenna patch to include a first contiguous portion that extends upwardly beyond the first antenna patch at an angle perpendicular thereto. Second and third contiguous portions are formed by folding additional portions of the second antenna patch about additional fold lines.

摘要： Apparatus, and an associated method, for a receiving station, such as the receive part of a mobile station, that has diversity antennas. The receiving station includes both legacy demodulators and a diversity demodulator. Calculations are made to determine signal indicia associated with the signal energy detected at the diversity antennas. Responsive to the signal indicia, selection is made as to whether to utilize demodulation data, demodulated pursuant to a diversity demodulation technique or pursuant to a legacy demodulation technique. As the characteristics of received signals change, reselection of the demodulation is correspondingly made, such as on a frame-by-frame basis of frame-formatted data.

摘要： A communication system comprising a mobile station and a network implements a persistent packet data control channel that provides for a continuous exchange of control information, such as system information (SI) messages and handoff-related information. The mobile station implements the persistent packet data control channel by mapping the persistent packet data control channel to a packet associated control channel when a packet associated control channel is available and to a virtual associated control channel when a packet associated control channel is not available. The virtual associated control channel allows the mobile station to pass control information to network in the absence of an uplink Temporary Block Flow (TBF).

摘要： The present invention provides a method for managing in a mobile subscriber the traffic flow of a communication connection during a cell reselection. The method includes communicating via a communication connection with a first cell, and monitoring communication conditions, while communicating with the first cell. An approximate time is then determined, when conditions associated with the flow of communication via the communication connection with the first cell is consistent with transferring the flow of communication to a communication connection with a second cell. The mobile subscriber then establishes a communication connection with the second cell, while maintaining the communication connection with the first cell. The method further includes routing the flow of the communication from the communication connection with the first cell to the communication connection with the second cell, and releasing by the mobile subscriber the communication connection with the first cell, proximate the time that the flow of communication is routed from the communication connection with the first cell to the communication connection with the second cell.

A multiplexer module positioned within the wireless communication device multiplexes call control data, session initiation protocol commands, and packet data setup and status transmitted between the wireless communication device and the network. A control module located in the multiplexer determines whether a packet associated control channel has been set up, and, in response to the packet associated control channel not being set up, the multiplexer module utilizes a slow dedicated control channel for transmitting signaling associated with requesting a packet associated control channel for transmitting the session initiation protocol commands.

In some aspects, a mobile device application is prevented from accessing resources of a wireless network. For example, a wireless network operator system can determine that one or more mobile device applications are disapproved for use in the wireless network. In some implementations, the wireless network operator denies the disapproved mobile device applications access to the wireless network resources. In some implementations, mobile devices disable access to the wireless network by the disapproved mobile device applications.
