摘要: A system and method of determining a height of a sensor is disclosed. The sensor has an air bearing surface. The method includes determining a pre-processing width of a base of a first triangle, a top of a second triangle and a first and a second rectangle, all formed of the same material which forms the sensor. The air bearing surface of the magnetoresistive sensor, the base of the first triangle, the top of the second triangle and the first and second rectangles are then processed and simultaneously lapped. A post-lapping width of the base of the first triangle, the top of the second triangle and the first and second rectangles are then determined. The height of the sensor is then calculated through use of the pre-processing and post-lapping widths at the air bearing surfaces of the bases of the first triangle, the top of the second triangle and the first and second rectangles.

摘要: A method of contouring a surface of a slider for supporting a transducer relative to a data storage medium includes applying a lithographic resist layer to the slider surface. The resist layer is then exposed through a single mask having 3a mask pattern defined by variation in an optical density through the mask. The resist layer is exposed in an exposure pattern corresponding to the mask pattern. Portions of the resist layer are removed as a function of the exposure pattern to produce a vertically contoured resist layer. The slider surface is etched through the vertically contoured resist layer during a single etching step to form a vertically contoured surface feature within the slider surface.

摘要: A transducer-level microactuator selectively positions a transducer portion of a slider radially with respect to circumferential data tracks of a rotatable disc. The slider includes a slider body having a leading edge and a trailing edge, a transducer body and a flexure body. The transducer body is spaced from the trailing edge of the sliding body and includes at least one transducer element. The flexure body extends from the trailing edge of the slider body and includes a first anchor point connected to the slider body and a second anchor point connected to the transducer body. The basecoat layer is deposited on the trailing edge of the slider body and substantially surrounds the flexure body wherein a gap separates the flexure body from the basecoat. A first actuation assembly is formed on the basecoat and a second actuation assembly is formed on the transducer body adjacent the slider body.

摘要: A photolithography reticle for use in conjunction with an exposure tool to produce a tapered sidewall profile in photoresist includes a solid portion and multiple sub-resolution line portions. The solid portion has a width which is greater than a resolution of the exposure tool. The sub-resolution line portions have widths which are less than the resolution of the exposure tool. Each of the sub-resolution line portions is spaced apart from the solid portion and from the others of the plurality of sub-resolution line portions by less than the resolution of the exposure tool.

摘要: A system for determining a height of a sensor includes a first triangle, a second triangle, a first rectangle, and a second rectangle. The sensor is positioned in a first plane and has a lapping surface. The first triangle, the second triangle, the first rectangle, and the second rectangle are each positioned in the first plane. A first point of the first triangle is positioned below the lapping surface of the sensor and a second point and a third point of the first triangle are positioned above the lapping surface of the sensor. A first point and a second point of the second triangle are positioned below the lapping surface of the sensor and a third point of the second triangle is positioned above the lapping surface of the sensor. A first portion of the first rectangle is positioned above the lapping surface of the sensor and a second portion is positioned below the lapping surface of the sensor. The second rectangle is positioned below the lapping surface of the sensor. A second plane in which the lapping surface of the sensor is located intersects the first triangle, the second triangle, the first rectangle, and the second rectangle. The height of the sensor is calculated through use of a pre-processing height of the sensor, a pre-processing width of the first and the second triangles, and a post-processing width of the first and the second triangles.
