摘要： The invention relates to a disc discriminating method and an optical disc information reproducing apparatus wherein DVD-RAM which is DVD-RAM1 or DVD-RAM2 and DVDRW which is DVD-RW or DVD+RW which cannot be respectively determined based upon distance from the surface of a disc to the recording face, the number of recording faces and the reflectance can be discriminated. In case an optical disc is DVD-RAM or DVDRW, the amplitude of a push-pull tracking error signal is measured by a microcomputer in a state in which servo control is executed based upon a focus error signal. Determination is performed based upon the amplitude of the push-pull tracking error signal, when the amplitude of the push-pull tracking error signal is larger than a predetermined value, the optical disc is judged as DVD-RAM and when the amplitude is smaller than the predetermined value, the optical disc is judged as DVDRW.

摘要： An optical disc apparatus for recording information and/or reproducing on an optical disc which has at least two recording layers including layer 0 and layer 1 reproducible from one side of the disc. The apparatus includes an optical pickup having a laser source, an objective lens, and an actuator. A controller is provided which obtains a present layer information of a sector recording layer from light reflected from the disc, confirms a target layer information of a target recording layer, judges whether the present layer information is the same as the target layer information, and outputs a first control signal to the actuator when it is judged that the present layer information is layer 0 and the target layer information is layer 1, and outputs a second control signal to a slider.

摘要： A first-in first-out storage facility for providing an instruction code stack is implemented by a combination of a first-in first-out register and an auxiliary storage register. A stream of instruction codes is successively pushed onto the first-in first-out register in a normal condition. However, an instruction code representative of, for example, an inspection of a system is steered to the auxiliary storage register rather than the first-in first-out register if an abnormal event takes place in the system, so that the instruction codes in the first-in first-out register are not required to be canceled so as to store the instruction code representative of the inspection, thereby enhancing the throughput of the code stream.

摘要： An optical disc apparatus comprises an overcurrent detector and when the overcurrent detector detects an overcurrent during a recording operation or a reproduction operation and during an operation for controlling a focus of an objective lens, a rotation speed of an optical disc is reduced and an actuator is controlled to cause the objective lens to be in a retracted state under the condition that a disc motor exerts brake force.
