摘要： A method includes connecting a mobile router (MR), also referred to herein as a gateway mobile terminal, of a mobile network (MONET) to an access point (AP) of an access network (AN) that includes an Access Router (AR); making a request to obtain a plurality of link addresses from a link address manager of the AN; allocating individual ones of the plurality of link addresses to individual ones of network nodes of the MONET; and performing a neighbor discovery procedure with the AR to send at least one neighbor advertisement to declare the allocated individual ones of the assigned plurality of link addresses. In one embodiment the request is made to obtain a set of link layer addresses (LLAs) that are allocated to individual ones of the network nodes, while in another embodiment the request is made to obtain a group identification (Group_ID) that is used to formulate a set of LLAs that are allocated to individual ones of the network nodes. The LLAs can be passed through the gateway mobile terminal to the individual network nodes, if the MONET signaling allows, or the gateway mobile terminal can map the LLAs to hardwired addresses of individual ones of the network nodes.

摘要： A “loose ACK” method by which a radio access network of a cellular network monitors wireless transmission of packets according to a layered protocol including a radio layer (near the physical layer) and an upper layer, the method including: a step (23) of slow release—in what is called normal buffer management—in which the upper layer removes from a buffer maintained by the upper layer the oldest packet in the buffer when the buffer is full and a new packet arrives, and does so independently of whether the packet being removed has been acknowledged by the radio layer of the terminal; and a step (24) of local acknowledgement in which the radio layer sends an acknowledgement to the upper layer on the occurrence of a predetermined event. The local acknowledgement can trigger either special mode buffer management or release of the buffer to a target (entity or layer).

摘要： A method for reducing IP level signaling and radio resource load during the attachment or update L3 of a mobile unit to a cellular wireless communication network is disclosed wherein access network elements and routing network elements are provided, an identification element is transmitted from the mobile unit to one of the access network elements. The identification element indicates a current attachment of the mobile unit to one of the routing network elements. The transmitted identification element is checked so as to determine whether the access network element is provided with a connection to the one routing network element.

In the invention, a communication between local and remote endpoints are established via a first gatekeeper, which services a first zone of the packet-switched network, when the local endpoint is at a location serviced by the first zone of the packet-switched network. When the local endpoint moves to a location serviced by a second zone of the packet-switched network, subsequent to the initial hand-off, communication between the local and remote endpoints is maintained via the first gatekeeper and a second gatekeeper which services the second zone of the packet-switched network, by performing an initial hand-off communication control functions from the first gatekeeper to the second gatekeeper. When the local endpoint further moves to a location serviced by a third zone of the packet-switched network, communication between the local and remote endpoints is maintained via the first gatekeeper and a third gatekeeper, which services the third zone of the packet-switched network, by performing a subsequent hand-off of communication control functions from the second gatekeeper to the third gatekeeper.

摘要： The invention provides in one aspect thereof a multi-carrier (MC) wireless network with a method to allocate a carrier to an idle mobile station. The method includes, responsive to the mobile station registering with the MC wireless network, selecting one of N available carriers to be assigned to the idle mobile station based on at least one criterion, and subsequently paging the idle mobile station on the assigned one of the N available carriers. The invention further provides, in other aspects thereof, a MC wireless network that operates in accordance with the methods, and a mobile station having a transceiver and a controller that is operable with the MC wireless network, where the controller is responsive to an order message received from the MC wireless network via the transceiver, when in an idle state, to transition to a carrier identified by the order message and to monitor the paging message in the assigned carrier. The controller further executes an idle handoff to one of another carrier, in a target cell, identified by a subsequent order message received over the assigned carrier, or to the same carrier in the target cell.
