Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided. Print-mark data corresponding to a print mark on a hardcopy of printed material is extracted from data corresponding to the hardcopy of printed material. The print-mark data is analyzed to quantify printing artifacts of the print mark resulting from printing variations occurring during printing of the hardcopy of printed material. The quantified printing artifacts are encrypted, and the encrypted printing artifacts are encoded into data corresponding to a machine-readable identifier. The machine-readable identifier is printed from the data corresponding to the machine-readable identifier on the hardcopy of printed material.
Abstract:
A cubic boron nitride sintered body is provided having improved strength and hardness for serving as a cutting tool. The sintered body includes cBN dispersed in a binder material, wherein the binder includes alumina, at least one other aluminum compound, and a non-aluminum material such as a carbide, nitride, carbonitride, boride or silicide of Groups IVa, Va, and VIa of the periodic table, or a mixture thereof.
Abstract:
A sintered polycrystalline diamond material (PCD) of extremely fine grain size is manufactured by sintering a diamond powder with pre-blended catalyst metal under high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) processing. The PCD material has an average sintered diamond grain structure of less than 1.0 μm.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to the field of immunology and provides immunoprotective compositions and methods for preparing such compositions from transgenic plant cells. The present invention also relates to the field of protein production (e.g., the recombinant production of enzymes, toxins, cell receptors, ligands, signal transducing agents, cytokines, or other proteins expressed in trangenic plant cell culture) and provides compositions comprising these proteins.
Abstract:
Genetic constructs, transformation vectors and methods are taught for production of transgenic plants which can be selectively removed from a growing site by application of a chemical agent or physiological stress. The invention links a target gene for the trait of commercial interest to a conditionally lethal gene, which can be selectively expressed to cause plant death. By use of the genetic constructs, transformation vectors and methods of the present invention, invasion of environments and contamination of commercial non-engineered productions by transgenic plants can be avoided. Methods are also taught for transformation of Brassica species.
Abstract:
In a multi-disc brake comprising a torque tube and a piston housing having a plurality of hydraulically operated and circumferentially spaced piston cylinders a thermal isolation element is arranged to restrict heat generated by the friction discs from flowing from the torque tube to the piston housing.
Abstract:
A sintered polycrystalline diamond material (PCD) of extremely fine grain size is manufactured by sintering under high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) processing, a diamond powder which is blended with a pre-milled source catalyst metal compound. The PCD material has an average sintered diamond grain structure of less than about 1.0 μm.
Abstract:
A method of making a cutting tool insert, including positioning and fixing an abrasive tip in a mold, filling the mold with a powder metal mixture, and infiltrating the powder metal mixture around at least a portion of the tip to define a green body. The method further includes compacting the powder metal to define a pressed green body, sintering the pressed green body to yield a sintered body having a metallic portion and a tip portion, and cooling the sintered body to put the tip portion into compression. The tip portion is non-adhesively mechanically attached to the metallic portion.
Abstract:
A press fitting arrangement includes a sealing ring to be housed within a bead of a press fitting into which a tube is to be inserted. There is at least one gap between the press fitting together with the sealing ring and the tube which is closed by pressing at least one portion of the press fitting. The sealing ring has at least one first portion along the majority of its circumference. Each first portion of the sealing ring has an outside diameter SOD1 prior to fitment into the press fitting bead which is larger than the inside bead diameter BID and an inside diameter SID1 prior to the insertion of the tube which is less than the tube outside diameter TOD. Additionally, the sealing ring has at least one pair of diametrically opposing second portions, each second portion of the sealing ring comprising a recess between the two projections.
Abstract:
A cutting tool comprising may include at least one abrasive tip that includes an abrasive cutting edge, and an insert body. The insert body includes a moldable material, and the moldable material is adhered to a portion of the abrasive tip.
