In one embodiment, the device has a modular design, wherein one or more removable inserts, preferably with different functionalities can be positioned between a base component and a collar component. The particular insert(s) chosen depend on the desired sample preparation or assay to be carried out. The insert(s) are stacked and are positioned between the base and collar as a unit, so that the stack within the manifold does not move during evacuation of the vacuum chamber. The consistent position of the insert(s) facilitates using vacuum sample processing with automated liquid handlers.

    摘要: The present invention provides a very lightweight conversation switch for stereo headphones that allows a user to select between listening to an audio player's source (e.g. music player, computer) and listening to a microphone. The preferred embodiment comprises a standard earphone or headphone set with an additional electronics assembly interposed between the plug and earpieces. The electronics assembly includes a microphone, amplifier, momentary switch, and a latching DPDT relay. The momentary switch functions to toggle the internal relay between the audio source and the microphone amplifier, whereupon ambient sound is picked up by the microphone assembly and is amplified and output to the earphones. The length of cable from the switch assembly to the earpieces is predetermined to allow fixation of the switch assembly at a point situated directly in front of the chest when the user is standing or sitting.

    摘要: A tensioning tool for connection with a tubing hanger and tubing string suspended from the tubing hanger retained in a dognut by a hanger retainer. Preferably the hanger retainer is temporarily engaged to the top of the tensioning pup for release therefrom once a lower end of the tubing has been fixed by a tubing anchor and the tubing has been lifted a tensioning distance. The hanger retainer is then engaged with the tubing hanger for suspending the tensioned tubing from the dognut locked in the wellhead. The dognut and the hanger retainer have co-operating locking faces which prevent rotation of the hanger retainer in the dognut once the locking faces are mated which assists in maintaining torque applied to the tubing string which may have been applied to rotationally set the tubing anchor. More preferably, the tensioning pup has a series of gradations marked on the pup for measuring the amount of tension applied to the tubing string.

    摘要: A progressive cavity pump pumps liquid downhole to a lower formation past a packer set in a casing of a wellbore. The rotor of the pump is axially restrained by a bearing assembly spaced below the pump for controlling uphole reactive loading on the rotor. Preferably the rotor is releasably coupled to the bearing assembly for release and recovery of the rotor from the bearing assembly. Such a releasable coupling is a latch comprising a plunger telescopically and releasably coupled with a housing using a dog and track arrangement, the dog and track utilizing the telescoping action to actuate the coupling and releasing of the latch.

    摘要: The present invention is a safety system for use in conjunction with a control bar for a kite wherein the two front lines are secured by a front line swivel positioned between the bar and the kite. One front line terminates at the swivel and one extension of the other front line, the center line, travels through a central aperture in the swivel. The center line is then routed through an aperture on the control bar and terminated with an end that can be secured to the user either manually or by a leash arrangement. The swivel allows any twists that may form in the front lines to unwind. An increased diameter element located proximally of the swivel is configured to engage the center swivel, but is configured to pass through the aperture on the control bar. When the bar is released, sufficient slack is imparted into the remaining flying lines to effectively depower the kite while retaining attachment to the kite through the restrained front line.

    摘要: The present invention provides a vacuum filter device (10) which includes a filter body (11) having two holders (12, 13) on opposite sides of a filter. Each holder contains a closed container (15, 16) in a fluid-tight, sealed relationship. The filter is retained by a compression sealing element that resiliently applies a sealing pressure to the upper surface of the filter. The sealing element is maintained in place by a compression element formed of a ring that applies a desired compressive force to the sealing element. The compression element is bonded to a portion of the body to hold it, the sealing element and filter in place and under a compression seal. Other aspects of the invention include provisions for forming a port in the compression element that can be aligned with the vent of the device. The invention also can provide for an alignment feature on the compression element that ensures the port is in alignment with the vent of the device. The device also includes a vacuum port (26) communicating with the downstream side of the filter, and hence the filtrate container.
