Abstract: A controller is configured to control an internal combustion engine. The controller is configured to execute a catalyst temperature-increasing control of increasing a temperature of the three-way catalyst device by introducing air-fuel mixture, which contains the fuel injected by a fuel injection valve, into an exhaust passage without burning the air-fuel mixture in a cylinder. The controller includes an air-fuel ratio control unit configured to control an air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture during the execution of the catalyst temperature-increasing control such that the air-fuel ratio becomes a richer air-fuel ratio during a first period from a beginning of the catalyst temperature-increasing control to a specified air-fuel ratio switching timing than during a second period from the air-fuel ratio switching timing to a completion of the catalyst temperature-increasing control.

Abstract: A controller and a control method for an internal combustion engine are provided. The internal combustion engine uses hydrogen as fuel. A base value of a fuel injection amount is calculated based on a requested torque. A smaller one of an upper limit value of the fuel injection amount and the base value is set as a target value. The upper limit value corresponds to an engine load factor. A NOx concentration difference is a difference between a NOx concentration in exhaust gas and a reference value for the NOx concentration. When the NOx concentration difference is greater than or equal to a threshold value, a relationship between the engine load factor and the upper limit value is corrected such that the upper limit value decreases.

Abstract: A CPU prompts a user to drive a vehicle to a repair shop by operating a display when an amount of PM deposited in a GPF increases. When a regeneration request for the GPF is input from a shop-side terminal in the repair shop, the CPU performs a regeneration process in a state in which the vehicle stops. The CPU controls a temperature of the GPF such that the temperature at the time of execution of the regeneration process becomes lower when an opening/closing member is in a closed state than when the opening/closing member is in an open state.

A port injection ratio is changed according to an engine operating state of the internal combustion engine. The port injection ratio is a ratio of a port injection amount that is an amount of fuel injected by port injection valves to an amount of fuel supplied to cylinders from the port injection valves and direct injection valves. An injection reducing process causes a fuel injection amount in a reduced-injection cylinder to be smaller than a fuel injection amount in other cylinders. An increase limiting process limits increases in an adhered fuel amount in intake ports by regulating the port injection ratio during execution of the injection reducing process.
