    Abstract: A mud slurry cleaning method including steps of distributing a mud slurry across an inclined primary separation screen, vibrating the primary screen through selected movement, cycle and frequency to screen out the liquid and selected particles, concurrently changing the geometric shape of the openings of the primary screen through each vibration cycle to free particles as might tend to lodge while concurrently impacting the primary screen at many spaced apart impact points to loosen particles tending to lodge, cyclonically separating the screened mud into a finally cleaned slurry and a thickened slurry including particles originally included in the original slurry, mixing the thickened slurry with a portion of the screened slurry to form a liquified slurry, distributing the liquified slurry across an inclined gleaning screen, and vibrating the gleaning screen as above described to screen out liquid and desired particles while concurrently changing the geometric shape of the openings of the screen and concurrently impacting the screen to loosen particles as above described. Mixing the clean slurry from the hydrocyclone separators with the liquid coming through the gleaned screen for return for use in the wellbore. Also discloses specialized apparatus used in the method.

    Abstract: An apparatus for cleansing a stream of drilling fluid fouled drill cuttings having a housing divided into a plurality of compartments each designed to retain cleansing fluid. A spinning force is imparted into the incoming fouled drill cuttings in an inlet chamber wherein cleansing fluid is intimately mixed with the fouled drill cuttings. A decanting chamber removes liberated drilling fluid from the cuttings and disposes of such drilling fluid from the apparatus via a drain trough assembly. The underflow from the decanter is passed through a solids concentrating assembly wherein the coarse solids are deposited in a concentrating assembly bottoms chamber wherein the settled drill cuttings are removed from the apparatus. The overhead stream from the solids concentrating assembly is directed to a second decanter for removal of any remaining drilling fluid and fine drill cuttings entrained therein from the apparatus via the drain trough assembly. The remaining fluid in the concentrating assembly bottoms chamber is recirculated to the second decanting chamber and the inlet chamber.

    Abstract: A continuous static mixing apparatus includes mixing disks. Each of the mixing disks has a set of symmetrically distributed nozzles therein that accelerate the flow and that create a mixing turbulence in the flow. Typically, the mixing apparatus combines the outlet flows of the mixing disks to provide a collision therebetween and, thus, increased turbulence and mixing. Communication passageways connect the material supplies to the mixing apparatus and direct the materials through the mixing disk. The materials may be combined either upstream or downstream of the mixing disks. An eductor may be used to combine the materials upstream of the mixing disks.

    Abstract: Discloses transportable liquid clarifying and screw conveyor/compactor liquid-solid separator apparatus which includes a pressureable clarifier vessel portably mounted on a base with a top and sides converging to the bottom of the vessel for attachment to a sludge disposal apparatus. A sludge inlet enters the top of the vessel and extends to near the bottom of the vessel. An effluent discharge flow control valve is connected through a conduit in the top of the vessel to provide a designated back pressure within the vessel while controlling the discharge flow of effluent liquid from the vessel. The sludge disposal apparatus includes an elongated screw conveyor/compactor mounted at an angle and extending upwardly from the vessel bottom. The compactor housing is tapered to compact the sludge as the screw conveyor carries the sludge to a liquid extraction section. The liquid extraction section has a screen tapered to further compact the slurry while extracting liquid being forced out of the slurry. The liquid extractor section is formed of a tapered screw rotatable within a tapered screen body formed of longitudinally extending, circumferentially spaced apart ribs or bars with the circumferential spacing being the screen openings.
