Abstract:
This invention relates to solutions of silanols prepared by hydrolysis of alkyltrialkoxysilanes whose alkoxy groups are partially or completely hydrolyzed.Preferred hydrolyzed alkyltrialkoxysilanes are of the formula CH.sub.3 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --Si(OH).sub.n (OH').sub.3-n.
Abstract:
An improvement in a process for preparing an antimony oxide stabilized polymethylene terephthalate polymeric composition wherein polymethylene terepthalate is produced by polycondensing a polymethylene terephthalate precondensate, the improvement residing in compounding said precondensate with said antimony oxide and thereafter subjecting the resultant composition to solid phase polycondensation. In particular is described a process for the stabilization of high molecular weight (high viscosity) polymethylene terephthalate wherein together with the antimony oxide there is added a stabilizer or other additive to the precondensate and the resultant composition is subjected to solid phase polycondensation. Also described are the resultant products of such processes.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a filler-fortified polyalkyleneterphthalate molding composition which comprises mixing a filler with a precondensate of poly-(1,4-butylene)-terephthalate and/or poly-(1,3-propylene)-terephthalate, forming the resultant mixture into a shape and thereafter polymerizing the precondensate by solid-phase condensation under solid-phase condensation conditions; a molding composition prepared by such a process comprising poly-(1,4-butylene)-terephthalate and/or poly-(1,3-propylene)-terephthalate in an amount of 20 to 98 weight percent and 2 to 80 weight percent of a fortifying filler, the amounts based upon the combined amount of polyester and fortifying filler; a shaped object prepared from molding such a molding composition and the process for molding such a molding composition into a molded shaped article.
Abstract:
Process for the preparation of tris-(halophenoxy) -1,3,5-triazine of formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 is each a phenoxy substituent having a 0-2 alkyl groups, and 0-2 halo alkyl groups, and has 1-5 halogen atoms which comprises contacting cyanuric acid chloride with alkali phenolate of the formulae R.sub.1 Me, R.sub.2 Me and R.sub.3 Me, wherein Me is alkali metal, and wherein said formulae can be identical or different, in the presence of alkylene diol monoalkyl ether, e.g. methyl or ethyl cellosolve. The ethers are good solvents for the phenolates. The products are used as flame-proofing agents for plastics.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a lifting device for raising the hood (20) of a motor vehicle during a collision with a pedestrian. The device comprises a retaining member (10) for connecting the hood (20) to the vehicle bodywork (14) and a pyrotechnic explosive unit (16) for detaching the retaining member (10). To guarantee a reliable operation, the device is equipped with lifting means (18) for raising the hood (20) into a collision position, the means being actuated by the energy of the explosive unit (16) released during the detachment of the retaining member (10).
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of the hydrogenation products of frankincense (olibanum), its hydrogenated ingredients as well as physiologically acceptable salts and derivatives thereof and hydrogenated frankincense extracts for the production of a medicament for the prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatment of cerebral ischemia, cranial/brain trauma and/or Alzheimer's disease. The use of frankincense, frankincense extract, substances contained in frankincense, their physiologically acceptable salts, their derivatives and the physiological salts thereof, pure boswellic acids, tirucallic acids or other triterpenes, their physiologically acceptable salts, derivatives of the salts thereof for the production of a medicament for the prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatment of cerebral ischemia and/or cranial/brain trauma is also provided according to the invention.
Abstract:
A pyrotechnic actuator for an active bonnet is provided that includes, but is not limited to a cylinder, a piston which can be displaced in the cylinder under the influence of a propellant gas and a first gas generator for producing the propellant gas. The actuator includes, but is not limited to at least one further gas generator, which can be ignited independently of the first gas generator.
Abstract:
The system for opening and/or closing an inlet valve (10) and/or an outlet valve (30) of a liquid container (24), particularly for water toilets, water tanks or the like, comprises an inlet tube (16) with an inlet valve (10) in the upper portion of the container (24) and an outlet tube (20) with an outlet valve (30) in the bottom portion (25) of the container (24), both valves (10, 30) being provided with a valve body. It is characterized by the use of a bistabile inlet valve (10) having a lag-free opening and closing characteristic without any intermediate opening position of the valve body (14; 38,46), the closing stroke of the valve body being assisted by the flow of the liquid.

Abstract:
A hydraulic actuating element particularly for a belt tightener having a pressure chamber arranged behind a piston guided in a cylinder, a reservoir separated from the pressure chamber by a check valve, the cylinder and the reservoir being completely oil filled, the outside of the reservoir being defined by a bellows, a leakage gap between the piston and the cylinder being open towards the reservoir and at its one side towards the pressure chamber, whereby a compression spring acts to urge apart the piston and cylinder, characterized in that the reservoir (13) surrounds the cylinder (2) and being limited by the bellows (12) at its outside, the bellows (12) being sealingly secured at one end to a base element (10) secured to the cylinder (2) and at its other end to a base element (11) secured to the piston (1), and that the leakage gap (3) at its other side (17) is externally shielded by the bellows (12) and open to the reservoir (13).
