    摘要: An optical disk device for recording or reproducing an optical disk has: an objective lens for irradiating a laser beam to the optical disk; an actuator for moving the objective lens in the radial direction of the optical disk; and a spindle motor for rotating the optical disk. After the laser beam irradiated to the optical disk passed through a PID portion of the optical disk, the actuator moves the objective lens in the radial direction of the optical disk at a timing corresponding to a rotational speed. Between signals to drive the actuator, an output time of a deceleration signal is set to a predetermined ratio of a time during which an acceleration signal is outputted. While the deceleration signal is outputted, a light spot passes through the PID portion.

An optical disc includes a plurality of data recording areas in which information is recorded with data recording densities which are different from each other. Information of the data recording densities in the data recording areas is recorded in a management information recording area (a BCA area or a PIC area) by using a unique format which does not depend upon the data recording densities of the data recording areas. The divided data recording areas are disposed in the same plane of the disc, or disposed over a plurality of recording layers.

A mechanism for correcting an aberration is constructed by an expander lens for the aberration correction and a self-holding element as a moving mechanism of the expander lens. By detecting a correcting position of the expander lens, the kind of disk to which the reproduction and recording have previously been executed can be discriminated.

    摘要: There are provided an optical disk device and tilt correction processing method for performing recording/reproduction by rapidly acquiring an optimal tilt correction value for an optical disk having a plurality of recording/reproducing layers. In an optical disk device capable of recording or reproducing information by irradiating a laser beam to each of a plurality of recording/reproducing layers of an optical disk, the tilt value is stepwise set within a predetermined range at a predetermined radius position of the recording/reproducing layer located at the farthest distance from the laser beam irradiation side so that an optimal tilt correction value can be obtained from the quadratic function by the method of least squares of the jitter or the like obtained from the disk. By applying the optimal tilt value obtained to the other recording/reproducing layer, it is possible to start recording or reproduction in a short time.

    摘要: This invention provides an optical disc device that can prevent the occurrence of an error in a starting position of a write operation due to off-tracking, and to avoid an unnecessary stop of the write operation during writing. A tracking error signal generator generates a tracking error signal from a signal which has been detected by an optical pickup, and a system controller detects off-tracking by comparing the tracking error signal with a threshold level, and turns control operation of a tracking servo controller off if the threshold level is exceeded. The off-tracking detection threshold level applied during a time period from completion of seek operation to a start of movement of the optical pickup to the starting position of the write operation is set to be lower than a threshold level applied during a time period of data recording.

By switching a plurality of lasers and moving a spherical aberration corrector while moving an objective lens to cause it to approach or keep away from an optical disk, rays reflected light from the optical disk can be detected with high accuracies. Discrimination among the kinds of a plurality of optical disks can be made on the basis of signals generated from the detected reflected rays. This ensures that the kind of an optical disk can be determined through one operation of sweeping.
