    Abstract: A phase shifter for altering the phase of a radio frequency signal is disclosed herein. A Lange coupler is used having reflective ports that are coupled to artificial transmission lines. The artificial transmission lines provide a reflection transmission path, the length of which can be determined by digital control lines. Transistors placed along the length of the central trace provide independent paths to ground that serve to shorten the electrical length of the ATL. Accordingly, by selectively turning the transistors on/off, the electrical length of the ATL can be selected and thus the amount of phase delay introduced by the phase shifter.

    Abstract: Beamforming transceiver system architectures and methods that enable linearizing beamforming transmissions. In a first embodiment, a transmit-side signal of a first polarity is sampled and provided through a feedback path utilizing sections of the second polarity receive-side circuitry to a single node for subsequent analysis. Analysis circuitry may set parameter values within a digital pre-distortion circuit and/or control signals for directing the control of various weights and parameter values, including voltages for the power rails of a beamforming transceiver IC, adjustments to individual power amplifier drain current and/or cascode gate bias voltage, adjustment of beam weights, adjustment of various other controls within the IC.

    Abstract: Various methods and circuital arrangements for biasing gates of stacked transistor amplifier that includes two series connected transistor stacks of different polarities are presented, where the amplifier is configured to operate according to different modes of operation. Such circuital arrangements operate in a closed loop with a feedback error voltage that is based on a sensed voltage at a common node of the two series connected transistor stacks. According to one aspect, gate biasing voltages to input transistors of each of the two series connected stacks are adjusted by respective current mirrors that are controlled based on the feedback error voltage. According to another aspect, other gate biasing voltages are generated by maintaining a fixed gate biasing voltage between any two consecutive gate basing voltages.

    Abstract: An RF hybrid coupler with phase and attenuation control that efficiently combines the functions of phase shifting and attenuation within a circuit. Embodiments include a hybrid coupler connected to parallel resistance-reactance (RX) circuits, where the reactance X may be a capacitor C or an inductor L; a hybrid coupler connected to parallel RX circuits (which may be variable), each of which is in turn series coupled to an inductive element L which corrects for attenuation range collapse while providing for fairly flat phase shift and attenuation performance as a function of frequency; and two hybrid couplers in a combined phase shifter and attenuator configuration, each with opposite frequency-dependent slopes and cascaded in series such that the slopes substantially cancel each other out, resulting in flat responses versus frequency.
