    Abstract: A superhydrophilic thick-film pH sensor based on chemical etching, and a preparation method thereof are provided. The superhydrophilic thick-film pH sensor includes: a substrate, and a working electrode and a reference electrode that cover surfaces of the substrate. The working electrode includes a titanium sheet attached to one side of the substrate; a front part of an outer surface of the titanium sheet is covered with a titanium dioxide sensitive layer; an electrically-conductive layer is attached to the other side of the substrate; the reference electrode is located on the electrically-conductive layer, and a surface of the reference electrode is coated with a naphthol layer; and an insulating gel wraps the substrate to expose only the working electrode and the reference electrode. The working electrode is obtained by soaking the titanium sheet in an 80° C. NaOH solution, and is integrated with the reference electrode to produce the thick-film pH sensor.

    Abstract: A method for chemically destroying magnetic data carriers. Recorded data are irretrievably eliminated and cannot be re-read. The carriers include aluminium or its alloys and ferromagnetic materials. They undergo a digestion reaction with an aqueous solution of a digesting mixture including: a) hydrochloric acid and (V)nitrate of one or more alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, rare earth metals and ammonium; or b) nitric(V) acid and chloride of one or more alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, rare earth metals and ammonium. The product of the reaction is an aqueous solution having aluminium hydroxide and chlorides and (V)nitrates of metals contained in the ferromagnetic metals and gaseous products of the reaction. Acidic salt solutions are utilized in a sewage treatment plant. Gaseous products including hydrogen and nitrogen oxides, after diluting with nitrogen, are directed to the atmosphere through an absorption system.

    Abstract: The invention provides an improved method for creating a formulation using a solid chemical agent in solution within a reservoir, and treating crops within a storage facility with an aerosol of the solution substantially at the time of use. The method includes having a premixing section for formulating the solution and mixing solid with a solvent in a premixing section. Further the solution may be heated by circulating it through a substantially instantaneous heater then channeling the solution into a commercial fogger, generating an aerosol of the CIPC solution, and providing said storage facility with said aerosol.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for hydrolyzing biological material for safe disposal thereof without the necessity of incineration or use of disinfectants are described. An alkaline solution having a concentration and an amount effective for hydrolyzing the biological material is brought into contact therewith by means of rotating paddles which both pound the biological material into small pieces and thoroughly mix the alkaline solution with the material under pressure and at elevated temperature. Following the hydrolysis of the biological material, a chosen portion of the water is removed from the alkaline solution and from the liquefied biological material, such that the resulting product solidifies when cooled. The present safe disposal of the biological material does not require incineration thereof, the addition of disinfectants thereto, or the discharge of liquid effluent containing processed biological material into the sewage system.

    Abstract: In the present invention, there is provided a process and an apparatus for hydrogenating hydrocarbon fuels. A receptacle is partly filled an aqueous solution containing sodium hydroxide. A hydrocarbon fuel is then introduced inside the receptacle atop the aqueous solution. Aluminum is introduced in the aqueous solution, thereby producing hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas is bubbled through the hydrocarbon fuel for hydrogenating the fuel.
