    摘要: A method and apparatus for forming rivet joints that allow pivotal motion of the parts interconnected by such joints with a desired amount of clearance. Parts to be riveted together are aligned with each other and held in place on a parts support anvil, and a rivet is placed into aligned holes. A rivet support anvil is positioned against the head of the rivet to establish an initial condition. The rivet support is adjusted a required amount with respect to the parts support anvil prior to formation of the second head on the opposite end of the rivet. The rivet is allowed to move a controlled amount prior to formation of the second head, to provide the desired amount of clearance.

    摘要: A portable self-piercing riveting system includes a pneumatically driven driver which forces a self-piercing rivet through a workpiece. An anvil carried on a pivotal clamp is moved into operative alignment with the driver on the blind side of the workpiece to receive and set a rivet. The clamp is part of a linkage mechanism which moves the anvil into and out of operative position. When the anvil is in an operative position to receive and set a rivet, the linkage mechanism is in a locked position whereby the impactive force received by the anvil is not transmitted to an actuator for the linkage mechanism.

    摘要: A rivetting machine for use with commercial vehicle brake-shoes, the machine having a punch holder, an anvil adjustable in height relative to the punch holder, a sprung rest for a brake shoe, and mechanism for linearly, operatively moving the punch holder, the mechanism comprising a lever actuable by a first pneumatic cylinder to take up free movement between a punch in the holder and a brake shoe on the rest, and a second pneumatic cylinder which produces further movement to effect a working operation on the brake shoe, a safety device being provided, so that, if, during the free movement, the punch holder meet resistance, the holder is immediately retracted.

    摘要: A device for cold forming a titanium alloy rivet according to a precise force vs. time relationship selected to avoid work hardening of the rivet. An electrical control circuit produces a squeeze signal waveform corresponding to the desired force rate variations to be exerted on the rivet. The squeeze signal operates a fluid pressure regulator on a hydraulic pump to control the force exerted on the rivet by opposed hydraulic squeeze cylinders. The electrical control circuit also produces switching signals for operating directional flow control valves in a hydraulic control circuit for moving the squeeze cylinders into and out of engagement with the rivet. Hydraulic clamp cylinders are used to hold the articles being riveted and the electrical control circuit produces signals for controlling the force exerted by the clamp cylinders and for moving the clamp cylinders into and out of engagement with the articles. The hydraulic control circuit associated with the clamp cylinders also includes means for floating the cylinders.
