摘要: A multi-flute ball end mill comprising a shank portion, a cutting edge portion having a ball-shaped tip portion, and 3 or more cutting edges formed in the cutting edge portion; each cutting edge being constituted by a peripheral cutting edge having a twist angle η of 35-45°, and a ball-end cutting edge having a twist angle μ at the outermost peripheral point, the twist angle η and the twist angle μ meeting the relation of η−μ≦7°, such that the ball-end cutting edge is smoothly connected to the peripheral cutting edge; the ball-end cutting edge having a radial rake angle of −37° to −11°; the peripheral cutting edge having a radial rake angle of 2-8°; and a center-lowered, inclined cutting edge integrally extending from a tip end of each ball-end cutting edge to a rotation center point, in a tip end portion of the ball portion near the rotation center point.

摘要: The milling cutter, in particular a round-head milling cutter, has a tool head, which extends along an axial direction and has a number of cutting teeth that each have a cutting edge. Chip flutes are located between each of the cutting teeth. The cutting teeth each have a front-side radial portion and a circumferential axial portion. The respective cutting edge and the chip flute are disposed such that they are inclined in opposite directions with respect to the axial direction such that the cutting tooth widens towards a foot region. In another embodiment, the tool head has two parts; a carrier part made of a tool steel, and a cutting part made of hard metal fastened to the carrier part. The milling cutter is distinguished by a long service life with a high cutting rate and a high quality of machining.

At least one cutting edge (7, 9) forms a positive rake angle (γa, γr) on the periphery of the milling head (3, 3a, 3b, 3c). The milling cutter (1) is particularly suited for machining light metals, especially for circular milling.

摘要: A double-sided milling insert for high feed milling of metal workpieces includes upper and lower faces facing in opposite directions and convex clearance surfaces extending between the upper and lower faces. Each one of the faces includes a recessed support surface. The support surfaces are substantially parallel to each other and have a cavity therein for receiving a fastening device. Intersections of the convex clearance surfaces with the upper and lower faces form convex cutting edges when seen in a plan view. A rake face is provided adjacent the convex cutting edges. Each convex cutting edge is concave when seen in a side view and includes a substantially straight cutting edge portion on each side of a curved cutting edge portion when seen in plan view. A milling tool with a plurality of such inserts and a method of high feed milling using this tool are also disclosed.

摘要: An end mill, preferably made of solid carbide, with a fastening section and a cutting area, in which the cutting area is formed by a core and three or four cutting edges running helically around the axis of rotation of the end mill and arranged around core; each of which has a peripheral main cutting edge and a secondary cutting edge on a face of the cutting area. On the face of the cutting area at least one point thinning of core is provided between two adjacent cutting edges. In order to create end mills that are simple to manufacture and optimized for drilling, the point thinning has an angle of 30° to 40° relative to the axis of rotation of the end mill.
