Abstract: A panel device (10), particularly a roof light for a recreational vehicle, comprises an at least substantially polygonal frame (11, 12) which surrounds an opening (15). A window (20) is connected to the frame for pivoting about a pivot axis and comprises a panel (21) which extends over the opening. Provided between the frame and the window is a stay device (50) which is manipulable between a first position, in which the window is forced into a flat state and closes the opening, and at least one second position in which the window is raised by the stay device and leaves the opening at least partially clear. The stay device comprises a stay (51, 52) which extends movably from an elongate guide (61, 62) at a first outer end and is connected pivotally to the window at an opposite, second outer end. The stay (51, 52) is adjustable in the guide and is coupled to an actuator (78) via a flexible transmission (71 . . . 83). The transmission comprises at least one tension-resistant pull member (71-73) which is coupled to the stay (51, 52) and which is movable in an axially at least substantially rigid yet flexible sleeve (81-83), a first outer end of which is fixed to or close to the stay (51, 52) and a second outer end of which is attached to or close to the actuator (78).

Abstract: A powered actuator for moving a motor vehicle closure panel from a closed position to an open position and method of construction thereof. Powered actuator includes an electric motor configured to rotate a driven shaft and a gearbox coupled to the driven shaft. An extensible member extends through the gearbox to a proximal end on one side of the gearbox for attachment to one of a vehicle body or the closure member and to a distal end on an opposite side of the gearbox. Extensible member is configured to move between retracted and extended positions in response to rotation of the driven shaft. A contamination cover enshrouds the extensible member between the gearbox and the distal end of the extensible member. Contamination cover moves between an axially extended state and an axially retracted state while the extensible member moves between the respective retracted position and the extended position.

Abstract: A spring winding device, a counterbalancing force adjustment device for a counterbalancing mechanism, and a method of adjusting an amount of force stored in a spring of a counterbalancing mechanism are provided. The spring winding device includes a support bracket, a worm gear, and a drive gear. The worm gear is rotatably coupled to the support bracket and includes a mount portion for coupling a first end cone thereto. The drive gear is rotatably disposed adjacent the support bracket and is drivingly engaged with the worm gear. A rotation of the drive gear causes the worm gear to rotate within the support bracket. The spring winding device does not require pretensioning using winding rods, maintains rigidity and alignment when a counterbalancing force is applied, and decreases a cost and a complexity of the counterbalancing mechanism.

Abstract: Universal rotary actuators (URAs) and door assemblies having the URAs are disclosed. In some embodiments, the URA includes a motor, a worm gear driven by the motor, a worm wheel having teeth that mesh with threads of the worm gear, a pinion gear attached to the worm wheel, drive gear rotatably connected to the pinion gear, an output shaft attached to the drive gear, and a controller assembly disposed between the drive gear and the motor, the controller selectively controlling direction and speed of the motor. In some embodiments, the URA additionally includes a quick release assembly that moves the pinion gear between an engaged position in which the pinion gear is rotatably connected to the drive gear and a disengaged position in which the pinion gear is not rotatably connected to the drive gear.
