Preferably, the apparatus includes at least a fluid level detection portion communicating with a fulcrum that provides at least a first lobe and a second lobe, and a control portion responsive to the first lobe when the apparatus is operated in a first operating mode and responsive to the second lobe when the apparatus is operated in a second operating mode. The apparatus preferably further includes a counterbalance mechanism linked to the fluid level detection device, wherein the apparatus operates in the first mode when a first balance force is applied by the counterbalance mechanism to the fluid level detection device, and further operates in the second mode when a second balance force is applied by the counterbalance mechanism to the fluid level detection device.

The upper end is pivotally anchored to a tank wall and capable of having its lower end being moved between two distinct angular positions depending on the level of the liquid in said tank acting on said float member and having a first higher buoyancy angular position representing a high liquid level endpoint, and a second less buoyancy angular position representing a lower liquid level endpoint. The float is maintained at each distinct angular position such that once triggered at one liquid level endpoint the float will maintain and hold that angular position until reversibly triggered at the other liquid level endpoint.

    摘要: An apparatus (38) is disclosed for controlling the level of oil in one or more compressors (10) of a refrigeration system. The compressors (10) are supplied with oil from a reservoir (28) which is in fluid communication via a common conduit (32) and second conduit (98) with the oil sump (not shown) of each compressor (10). The apparatus (38) includes a housing composed of a main body portion and a spacer block. The body portion is provided with a chamber which houses a float. The chamber is in fluid communication with the oil sump of its respective compressor (10). As the oil level within the compressor (10) varies, the angle of pivot of float also varies. This variation is sensed by a sensor which produces a signal indicative of the level of the oil. When the signal is indicative that the level of oil within the compressor is below a first predetermined minimum level, solenoid valve (78) is opened and solenoid valve (82) closed. This allows oil from the reservoir (24) to flow via conduits (32 and 98) into the compressor. In another embodiment, if the signal is indicative that the oil level within the compressor is higher than a predetermined maximum level, solenoid valve (78) is caused to close and solenoid valve (82) caused to open resulting in oil being dumped from the compressor back to the oil reservoir (28) via conduits (98 and 32).

    摘要: A float rod and float body are fastened together by means of a two-point attachment in which a substantially straight remote end of the float rod is inserted into a rod receiving passage simultaneously with a grasping point on the float rod being received by a snap-in retainer on a portion of the float rod separated from the remote end by a bend in the float rod. Fastening of the parts is thus achieved in a single linear motion for ease of assembly. The snap-in retainer preferably is comprised of a fork whereby the float body is retained on the float rod against forces in any direction after being assembled. The float body can be filled with an appropriate filling material to provide the desired buoyancy in the liquid to be measured. An embodiment particularly adapted to fuel level measurement in vehicle fuel tanks is described.

    摘要: A float for a liquid level detection device has a shape with a flat surface which, when the float is in its lowermost position, will be horizontal (i.e., parallel to the liquid surface). The float has a center of buoyancy close to one edge of this face, and when the float is in its uppermost position the flat face will be generally vertical, with the edge of the face to which the center of buoyancy is closest being at the top. Because this edge is close to the center of buoyancy, only a small height of the float will project above the liquid level.
