    摘要: A magnetic field generating method and a permanent magnetic circuit for, using magnetic field heat treatment, imparting axisymmetric anisotropy in a direction parallel to the substrate to a soft magnetic body, particularly a soft magnetic backing layer for a perpendicular two-layered magnetic recording medium used in perpendicular magnetic recording. In a rare earth permanent magnetic circuit that exhibits hardly any demagnetization at high temperature, a plurality of magnet side faces 95 orthogonal to pole faces 94 are disposed with space therebetween. A magnetic field that is substantially antiparallel to magnetization 91 is generated in the space, and an unprocessed sample is inserted. Further, the permanent magnetic circuit with the unprocessed sample inserted therein is placed in a heat treatment furnace, and the unprocessed sample is rotated 96 as desired.

A second ferromagnetic substance 7 having a ring shape is preferably disposed in a periphery of the recording medium 1.

    摘要: The magnetic recording medium provided is produced by forming a substrate having a nanoparticle layer comprising an array of nanoparticles, and an organic compound between said array of nanoparticles; irradiating the nanoparticle layer with an infrared beam to magnetize the nanoparticles; applying a magnetic field to the nanoparticle layer to orient easy axis of magnetization of the magnetic nanoparticles in a substantially uniform direction; and irradiating the nanoparticle layer with an ultraviolet beam to bind said organic compound to thereby produce a magnetic recording medium wherein easy axis of magnetization of the nanoparticles has been oriented in a direction substantially parallel to a direction at a particular angle with the substrate. The resulting magnetic recording medium experiences no deterioration of the underlying layer or the soft magnetic layer, and exhibits good magnetic properties.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium which consists of at least two layers cast one on top of the other is described, the lower layer containing acicular magnetic pigments having a field strength of 5-40 kA/m and a magnetization of 20-70 nTm3/g and the upper layer containing a high-density metal powder dispersion. After application of the layers, the magnetic recording medium is subjected to a magnetic disorientation treatment while the layers are in the wet state, so that said recording medium has virtually no magnetic and mechanical anisotropy. The magnetic recording medium produced in this manner is particularly suitable for floppy disks having a high storage capacity of substantially more than 100 megabytes.

    摘要: A device for orienting magnetic particles contained in a magnetic layer on a disc-shaped magnetic recording medium along the circumference of the recording medium. The magnetic layer is provided on a substrate. The orientation is effected by a magnetic field developed by a pair of permanent magnets and which the recording medium traverses during rotation. The permanent magnets are individually shaped flat and arranged to oppose each other at their pole-faces which are common in polarity. A trailing edge of each magnet located with respect to relative movement of the rotating recording medium extends and aligns with the radius of the recording medium.
