Abstract: A permanent magnet formed by additively manufacturing magnetic phases and buffer phases is disclosed. The buffer phase(s) may improve performance, enhance mechanical properties and allow the magnet to better tolerate stresses such that defects such as cracking do not occur or are less likely to occur. The buffer phase may be a magnetic or non-magnetic material.

Abstract: A motor includes a stator and a rotor provided inside the stator. The rotor includes a rotor core having a magnet insertion hole and two permanent magnets disposed in the magnet insertion hole. The rotor core has a first magnet holding portion disposed between the two permanent magnets and holding the two permanent magnets, an opening disposed on an inner side of the first magnet holding portion in a radial direction of the rotor core, and a center hole disposed at a center of the rotor core in the radial direction. A distance from the opening to the magnet insertion hole is shorter than a distance from the opening to the center hole.

As a result, the rare-earth-compound powder can be efficiently and uniformly applied to the surfaces of the sintered magnet bodies.

Abstract: The present invention provides a Nd—Fe—B magnet including a first film of aluminum having a first predetermined hardness and an anti-corrosive coating of oxidized aluminum having a second predetermined hardness on the first film. The second predetermined hardness is at least eight times the first predetermined hardness. The present invention also provides a method for preparing a hard aluminum film on the Nd—Fe—B magnet. The method includes depositing the first film on the Nd—Fe—B magnet under vacuum, disposing the Nd—Fe—B magnet having the first film on the anode, and subjecting the Nd—Fe—B magnet having the first film to the anodic oxidation process under a solution containing an electrolyte present between 15 wt. % to 20 wt. % to form the anti-corrosive coating on the first film to prevent the Nd—Fe—B magnet from corroding. The electrolyte is selected from at least one of sulfuric acid, chromic acid, boric acid, and oxalic acid.
