摘要: In a magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support and a magnetic recording layer coated thereon in which ferromagnetic particles are dispersed in a binder, the ferromagnetic particles are given a magnetic anisotropy by a magnetic annealing treatment and the direction of the magnetic anisotropy is vertical mainly to the recording surface. Thus, the vertical magnetization recording is improved.

摘要: In a magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support and a magnetic recording layer coated thereon in which ferromagnetic particles are dispersed in a non-magnetic binder, an improvement consists in that the ferromagnetic particles have a mean particle length of at most 0.3 microns with a length to width ratio of more than 1 but at most 3 and optionally are subjected to an orientation treatment in a magnetic field in the vertical direction to the recording surface.

摘要: A process for producing a magnetic recording medium is disclosed. The process involves coating a non-magnetic base with magnetic coating solution containing fine ferromagnetic particles and a binder comprising nitrocellulose, polyol and an isocyanate having at least two isocyanato groups. In the process, the web having 0.3 to 3 wt % of the residual solvent in the magnetic layer is calendered, and the calendered web is then dried thoroughly.

摘要: By incorporating 5 to 15 parts by weight of a finely divided powder having high hardness and a particle size of less than 10.mu. with 100 parts by weight of graphite powder with 20 to 50 parts by weight of a binder in a graphite layer of a magnetic recording medium which comprises a support, a magnetizable layer and a graphite layer provided on the opposite side of the support from the magnetizable layer, a reduction in the abrasion and the destruction of the graphite layer during running can be reduced.

摘要: The perpendicular magnetic orientation of a magnetic layer containing platelet-form ferromagnetic particles coated on a web support is effectively performed by passing a web having thereon the coated magnetic layer in an undried state through a magnetic field formed by plural pairs of opposite pole type magnets disposed in the travelling direction of the web with a gap between adjacent pairs of magnets, while supplying drying air through each gap onto the surface of the travelling web to substantially complete the drying of the coated layer while the web is in the magnetic field. A partition may be inserted in each gap so that the lower end of the partition is close to the upper surface of the travelling web to divide the gap into a front section and a back section, and the drying air may be passed through these sections.

摘要: A process for forming a vapor-deposited thin layer of organic material is disclosed. The process involves placing organic material on a support base within a vacuum chamber and providing a heat source in the vicinity of the organic material. A second support base is then provided within the vacuum chamber and heat is applied to the organic material at a temperature which causes the organic material to form vapors. The vapors are vapor-deposited on the second support base forming the thin layer of organic material. It is generally desirable to move both of the support bases during the vapor deposition process allowing the formation of a continuous uniform thin layer of organic material.
