Abstract:
A wiring device including a face contact; one or more line contact arms; one or more load contact arms; and a fault detection circuit. The one or more line contact arms having an upper line contact located on a bent portion of the line contact arm, and a lower line contact located on a substantially straight portion of the line contact arm. The one or more load contact arms having a load contact located on a bent portion of the load contact arm. The fault detection circuit that detects a fault condition in said wiring device and generates a fault detection signal when said fault condition is detected, wherein said fault detection signal electrically disconnects the face contact from the upper line contact and the lower line contact from the load contact.
Abstract:
A trip for electrical switching device including a protective housing, first electrical connection terminals, and a supply module including at least one transformer and second input and output terminals able to be connected to the first connection terminals according to a direction of connection. The supply module is able to generate a supply voltage on the basis of an input voltage received between the second input terminals and to deliver the supply voltage between the second output terminals. The supply module is movable with respect to the protective housing.

Embodiments provide tripping unit of a circuit breaker. The tripping unit includes a magnet, a bimetal member extending alongside of the magnet, and an armature pivotable on the magnet, wherein the armature having an engagement portion engageable with the bimetal member at a moveable end of the bimetal member. Circuit breakers including triggering mechanisms and tripping units are also disclosed, as are low-profile, electronic circuit breakers including a maximum transverse width (Wt) limited to occupy only a single standard breaker panelboard location. System and methods are provided, as are other aspects.
Abstract:
Cradle-assist assemblies attached to the breaker cradle housing and/or base or residing at least partially in the breaker cradle housing and/or base include at least one actuator configured to laterally translate the at least one right and the at least one left lock members from the extended lock position to the retracted unlocked position in response to input from a user. The at least one actuator and/or transverse member(s) can be held in a defined position so that the lock members of the cradle can be locked in the respective retracted or extended positions until the cradle assist (internal) lock is manually or automatically released.
Abstract:
An electrical switching apparatus includes a transductor circuit that senses a direct current between at least one input terminal and at least one output terminal and outputs an alternating current proportional to the direct current between the input terminal and the output terminal. The electrical switching apparatus also includes an alternating current electronic trip circuit configured to control pairs of separable contacts to separate based on the alternating current output from the transductor circuit. The alternating current electronic trip circuit includes a rectifier circuit, an interface circuit, and a processor structured to output a control signal to control a trip actuator to cause an operating mechanism to separate the plurality of pairs of separable contacts.
Abstract:
A circuit breaker having a movable contact arm for opening and closing the circuit which is controlled separately by a circuit breaker mechanism for circuit protection and by a switch lever mechanism which does not require actuation of the circuit breaker mechanism to function. The switch lever may be activated by a solenoid or other suitable means, and various interlocking mechanical states exist among the elements that provide added safety features.
Abstract:
A release for an electrical switching arrangement includes at least two switching contacts, which are arranged in a housing and are isolated if the current flowing via the switching contacts has exceeded a predetermined threshold value. The release includes an actuating element, which responds, counter to the force of a restraining apparatus, to a pressure which is generated by an arc occurring in an isolating zone of the switching contacts. The isolating zone is surrounded by the housing, and actuates a shutdown mechanism which brings about automatic interruption of the current path. The actuating element has a movable element, which forms a blocking element in a flow channel, which is connected to the isolating zone. The blocking element performs a predetermined control movement at the pressure which is intended to result in shutdown.
Abstract:
An AC contactor with a mechanical short circuit self-locking function includes an AC contactor body. The AC contactor body includes a shell body, wherein a mechanical short circuit self-locking unit is provided therein. The mechanical short circuit self-locking unit includes a short circuit detecting and triggering device for generating a triggering action when a fault of short circuit occurs; and a self-locking acting device for generating a self-locking action after receiving the triggering action, so as to disable the AC contactor to automatically reset after the fault of short circuit is removed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a safety apparatus and a protection method of a secondary battery, which can prevent explosion and fire of the secondary battery using a switch or a rupture switch attached on the outside of the secondary battery if a swelling degree of the secondary battery reaches a predetermined value when the secondary battery is swelled due to abnormal usage such as overcharge, short-circuit, reverse-connection and heat-exposure of large-capacity lithium polymer battery.
Abstract:
A switching device for selectively switching electrical power from an electrical power source to a load circuit comprises a housing. An electromechanical actuator is in the housing. A fixed contact is fixedly mounted in the housing. A contact arm is pivotally mounted in the housing. The contact arm carries a movable contact and has a lever. The contact arm is operatively connected to the actuator to be selectively positioned thereby for selectively electrically contacting the moveable contact with the fixed contact. A rotational actuator is rotationally mounted to the housing. The rotational actuator includes a leg proximate the lever so that rotational movement of the rotational actuator pivotally moves the contact arm to override the electromechanical actuator.
