A printing apparatus includes a storage unit configured to store print data including a password upon receipt of the print data, a receiving unit configured to receive a print instruction for the stored print data from a user, an authentication unit capable of performing user authentication, and a printing unit configured to perform printing without causing an authenticated user to enter a password in a case where an owner of the print-instructed print data matches the authenticated user, and to perform printing in response to a match between a password received from a user and the password included in the print data in a case where the owner of the print-instructed print data differs from the authenticated user, or in a case where a print instruction is received without user authentication by the authentication unit.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided that determine the merit of a given captured image, and apply an intelligent policy to the uploading of the image. An image may be captured by an image capturing device of a user. A merit score is determined for the captured image. The merit score indicates a predicted value of the captured image to the user. An access policy is assigned to the captured image based on the determined merit score. Access to the captured image is enabled based on the assigned access policy. For instance, the captured image may be deleted, may be automatically uploaded to a server over a fee-free network connection only, may be uploaded to the server over any available network connection, may be uploaded at a reduced image resolution, and/or may be uploaded at full image resolution, depending on the access policy.

A system for collecting, creating, and distributing images and videos includes a smart application, executable on a smart device, the smart application providing for the control of the imaging and video capture device of the smart device. The system further includes a server, the server in communication with the smart application via the smart device, the smart application receiving a code, the code being associated with images generated by the smart device resulting in coded images through the control of the smart device by the smart application, the smart application uploading the coded images to the server, the server providing access to the coded images according to access preferences.

A gloss effect image pattern is created on a recording medium having a first color by electronically creating a first electronic pattern ink, the first electronic pattern ink including a second color and including holes, the holes representing areas in the first electronic pattern ink wherein the second color is absent; electronically creating an electronic image region having a pattern; electronically painting, using the first electronic pattern ink, a background of electronic image region and the pattern of the electronic image region; electronically painting a predetermined portion of the holes within the electronic image region with a third color, the third color matching the first color of the recording medium; and rendering, using marking materials, the electronic image region on the recording medium.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes an authenticating section, a permitting section, and an input section. The authenticating section authenticates a user. The permitting section permits the user authenticated by the authenticating section to execute a new job using data associated with the user and stored concerning already-completed jobs. The input section enables the user to change at least one of conditions for execution of the new job with respect to the already-completed jobs permitted by the permitting section and input the condition.

In a case where the digital watermarking onto the document is implemented once at the time of printing and printed so as to update the printing contents of the document, the contents of the newly printed digital watermark does not match with that of existing digital watermark already printed. The contents of the digital watermark are also updated so to make them in conformity with the printing contents updated. The contents of the digital watermark and the position thereof are read by the scanning operation. In a case where the original digital watermark can be overwritten at the time of on-print processing, the overwriting operation is performed, while, in a case where cannot be overwritten, the printing operation is perform onto the new paper sheet.
Abstract:
Methods and systems of rendering content on a device having a native digital rights management (DRM) system are described. A device, such as an end-user device capable of executing or playing content, acquires content in a common content format file having standardized locations for specific types of data. A generic digital rights token associated with the content is obtained by utilizing one of the standardized locations in the content format file, where the rights token contains information sufficient to allow retrieval of the rights associated with the content. Utilizing data in another of the standardized locations, it is then determined whether the device is registered in a domain. A license server directory may be accessed utilizing data in another of the standardized locations in the common content format file and a domain identifier, a device identifier, or both are transmitted to the license server directory. A native DRM system trigger is received and, upon activation of the trigger, a native DRM license is acquired, thereby enabling rendering of the content in the common content format file on the device.
