    摘要: An apparatus for separating solid particles from the suction effluent of, for example, a dental office, preferably driven by a dental office vacuum pump, includes a surge tank for accommodating effluent overfill connected to a sedimentary deposit tank for sedimentation of effluent particles. A bypass conduit is connected to the surge tank inlet which is equipped with a vacuum break valve for allowing air into the system when the suction openings are closed. The sedimentary deposit tank has a series of baffle chambers through which effluent flows in sequence, and in each of which chambers sediment is deposited for later removal. The surge tank preferably has a liquid level sensor and warning device. Modular filters or adsorbants may be installed in the sedimentary deposit tank, or a modular auxiliary filter may be connected downstream of the tank. Chemical injection may be used to improve sedimentation. A positive air pressure source or auxiliary pumps may be used to drive the effluent, particularly in large installations incorporating multiple surge and deposit tanks. Full tank effluent removal and drying facilities are optionally provided.

    摘要: An upflow liquid clarifier for treating a liquid that contains dissolved or suspended solids has a lower chamber with two curved ends connected by a straight section, a centrally-disposed dividing wall extending upwardly from that lower chamber, and an outer wall that extends upwardly and outwardly from the lower chamber. Inlets in communication with the lower chamber provide entry for liquid, which rises in a helical motion through the clarifier. Motion of the water establishes a sludge blanket, through which clarified water rises and can be removed from near the top of the clarifier. A sludge removal structure allows the continuous or periodic removal of sludge.

The structure includes a device for capturing and removing particulate matter from a liquid medium. In operation, the device is inserted into the liquid having the particulate matter, with a particulate matter collector in the particle collecting position. An agitator circulates the liquid having the particulate matter therein. A portion of the particulate matter is collected in the particulate matter collector during the circulation. Thereafter, the circulation is ceased and the device is removed from the liquid with the particulate matter in the particulate matter collector. The device is moved to a discharge position, and the particulate matter collector is moved to a particle discharge position to discharge the particulate matter.

    摘要: A treater for separating oil from water in an emulsion uses vertical coalescing vanes extending through the oil portion into the water portion. The vanes are made of a conductive material, and are electrically grounded in the produced water, and may be coated or partially coated to promote de-watering. Water droplets coalescing on the faces of the vanes are transported down the vane into the water portion and are removed from the system. In a further embodiment, the vanes extend above the oil portion into the gas portion to facilitate removal of gas entrained in the oil. In another embodiment, at least some of the coalescing vanes are rotatable, allowing external control of the flow of fluid through the treater.

The gross solids are separated from the liquid flow and collected in the inlet section. A water jet eductor is provided having a solids extraction port located in a lower portion of the inlet section. The water jet eductor is actuated by supplying pressurized water to create a suction to extract the accumulated solids from the inlet section. The extracted solids are directed to a separator outlet or to an alternate disposal system by suitable piping.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for converting a conventional waste water treatment plant for use with BPR and/or BPNR processes downstream of a clarifier. The effluent launder is flooded by means of a dam installed in the effluent launder, and waste water is guided to the outlet of the effluent launder by means of a sluice, thereby minimizing air entrainment and turbulence of the waste water downstream of the dam. Benefits obtained by means of the present invention include reduced noise, reduced emission of noxious and malodorous gasses, reduced losses of VFAs from the waste water, and reduced uptake of oxygen into the waste water. In addition, growth of algae within the clarifier is greatly reduced.
