    Abstract: A coupling system is utilized to form a multi-part rocket engine thrust compartment that maintains inner channels within walls of the thrust compartment for regenerative cooling. The coupling system includes an insert joint arranged between joint faces of a first segment and a second segment. The first segment and the second segment include inner edges that, when jointed together, form an inner wall. The joint insert is installed between the first segment and the second segment after the inner wall is formed and coupled to the first segment and the second segment. The joint faces of the first segment and the second segment include extending feature to form a flow passage along with cavities at least partially defined by the joint insert.

    Abstract: A mobile hardbanding system that uses PTA welding to perform hardbanding on drill string sections at the well site. The inventive system allows alternate use of PTA and MIG welding. Both a PTA torch and a MIG torch are provided. Changing from one type of welding to the other is simplified by including separate electrical, gas, and cooling conduits for each torch. The torch not in use is parked in the welding compartment near the weld box. The powder hopper for the PTA welding assembly may be mounted on a swivel arm so that it can be moved out of the way when the MIG torch is in use.

    Abstract: A method is provided for repairing a hollow fan blade that includes a first portion and a second portion secured together by a joint. An interior cavity of the hollow fan blade is under a vacuum. The method includes obtaining a replacement portion having a unitary construction, removing a portion from a cutback region of the hollow fan blade to form a weld foundation, and welding the replacement portion to the weld foundation. The welding is at a temperature at the joint that does not exceed a distortion temperature of the joint.

    Abstract: Various methods of hardbanding an apparatus are described. In one aspect of the invention an improved method of re-applying a hardbanding alloy to worn tool joints of a previously hardbanded drill pipe results in preservation of the metallurgical properties of the drill pipe and preservation of the internal polymer coating that lines the drill pipe. A method for applying hardbanding includes arc welding a consumable metal welding wire to a tool joint having a surface temperature that ranges from about 50° F. to about 170° F. and the arc welding power supply utilizes DC current. The method herein produces a hardbanded tool joint comprising a heat affected zone (HAZ) of a based metal having a Rockwell hardness of 40 Rc or less.

    Abstract: Methods of applying a polymeric coating to a rear face surface of golf club heads with variable face thickness are disclosed herein. The coating, which preferably comprises polyurea, improves the durability of the face and reduces the hits to failure ratio of the golf club head. The coating improves the performance of the golf club head because it allows for reduction in overall face thickness and easy post-process manipulation to allow for fine-tuning of mass properties after production. The reduction in thickness leads to overall weight reduction, because the polymer is roughly a quarter of the density of titanium or stainless steel, and also reinforces the face, thereby increasing the lifespan of the club.
