A bearing member is rotatably supported on each pipe engaging member for rolling contact with the second pipe section to assist in positioning the second pipe section relative to the first pipe section. The clamp member may be formed of modular sections connected circumferentially in series in which each modular section defines a mounting location upon which a pipe engaging member can be removably attached.

    摘要: A hydraulic torque wrench having a separate ratchet unit and hydraulic cylinder drive unit connectable by an overlapping cylindrical connection at selected angles of rotation providing clearance in use. The hydraulic cylinder actuates the ratchet mechanism by a connecting rod traveling through the overlapping cylindrical connection and engaging a pivotable drive plate. The ratchet may have a male drive shaft for driving a socket, or a female driver such a hex or spline wrench. The ratchet unit case may be integral, or split for removable accesses to the ratchet mechanisms. The cylinder unit hydraulic connections may be separate rotatable connections or a single connection and collar, allowing three-way rotation. Attachments for the hydraulic unit include a pipe flange spreader, a nut splitter, scissor action shears, and a lift/spreader for lifting an object from a flat surface or spreading surfaces apart. A reaction bar affixes to the drive unit body.

The frame member is further defined by a horizontal segment and a pair of opposed vertical segments. One of the vertical segments has an enlarged upper end. The enlarged upper end has a horizontally oriented threaded bore extending therethrough. An upper end of the vertical segment without the enlarged upper end has a pin swively disposed therein and extending outwardly therefrom towards the opposed vertical segment. A primary separating tool couples with the pin of the frame member. The primary separating tool receives a ball socket. A secondary separating tool extends through the threaded bore of the enlarged end of the frame member and extends toward the primary separating tool. The secondary separating tool serves to aid in separating ball sockets with the primary separating tool.

    摘要: An anti-rotation clip for preventing rotation of a nut-like member (nut or bolt head) of a flanged connection to facilitate tightening or loosening of the nut-like member and eliminate the need to use two wrenches for tightening or loosening a nut or bolt. The clip is a generally L-shaped member having a horizontal portion and a vertical portion at one end thereof extending generally perpendicular thereto. A polygonal opening extending vertically through the horizontal portion has a plurality of discrete angled sides configured to surround and engage the sides of the nut-like member. The inner surface of the vertical portion is spaced a distance from the opening and is received on the outer surface of a flange with which the nut-like member is associated to prevent rotation of the surrounded nut-like member while torque is applied to a vertically opposed bolt head or nut connected with the surrounded nut-like member such that the nut-like member is prevented from rotating as torque is continued to tighten or loosen the connected nut-like member relative to the opposed bolt head or nut.

    摘要: A flange aligning device including an elongated body having a transverse internally threaded passage at each end and a carriage which can be moved along the body. A jacking screw is threaded into each of the internally threaded passages so that the distance between each end of the body and a pipe section which that end confronts can be determined by rotating one of the jacking screws. A tie plate is bolted to the carriage and is provided with elongated holes for receiving studs which pass through preexisting holes in the flange of one of the pipe sections. Different tie plates are provided to accommodate different pipe diameters, flanges, etc., each of which tie plates can be mounted on the carriage by means of bolts and associated tapped holes.

    摘要: A flange alignment tool comprises a body portion having a first, relatively flat surface disposed for abutting engagement with a rear surface of a pipe flange and a second, curvilinear surface adjacent the first surface and shaped for complementary engagement with a curvilinear neck portion of the pipe flange adjacent the rear surface thereof. First and second spaced apart aligning pins extend through the body portion and include projecting flange-engaging pin ends positioned for alignment with an adjacent pair of through apertures in the flange. Resilient springs urge the aligning pins in a predetermined direction for encouraging positive engagement of the flange-engaging pin ends with the through apertures.A method for aligning a pair of pipe flanges, each having a plurality of through apertures, at opposite ends of a length of pipe, comprises permanently attaching a first flange to a first end of said pipe, inserting an alignment tool having a flat surface into two adjacent ones of the through apertures of the first flange, applying a level to the flat surface and rotating the pipe and first flange until the level indicates a level position. A second flange is placed about the opposite end of said pipe, and the tool is inserted through two adjacent ones of the through apertures of the second flange. The level is then applied to the flat surface of the tool and the second flange is rotated while holding the pipe stationary until the level indicates a level position. The second flange is then permanently attached to said opposite end of the pipe.

    摘要: The invention provides a process for the determination of the make-up torque to be applied on a joint for pipe, destined to the petroleum industry according to which a reference mark is set on the male element and on the female element, so that when the two reference marks are brought to face each other, the make-up restriction stops (2) on the male element (1) and on the female element come into contact with each other; that after having applied a grease, we proceed to make-up by applying sufficient torque to cause one element to rotate with respect to the other one, at a predetermined angle beyond the point where the reference marks are facing each other, and we proceed to measure the torque; that this operation is repeated on a sufficient number of joints; and that a determination is made of the range of torques to be applied on the joints of this type with the grease that has been used.
