Abstract:
A handle cutter assembly for making C-shaped handle cuts in cardboard boxed and the like. The cutter assembly has a body having an outer shell defining a blade cavity therein. The body has an upper end and a lower end. A lower aperture is positioned in the lower end. The body also has a blade slider mounted thereto and a grip portion is mounted to its upper end. A cutting blade is mounted within the blade cavity. The cutting blade is slidable by the blade slider between a retracted position substantially within the blade cavity and a cutting position. In the cutting position, the cutting blade extends below the lower end through the lower aperture. The cutting blade has a cutting edge extending away from the body which has a C-shaped cutting profile.
Abstract:
A variable-diameter knife roll is provided with a knife extending parallel to the axis of the roll placed generally radially on a diametral plane, such knife being mounted on a knife carrier able to be adjusted radially outwardly and inwardly. In order to be able to rapidly and simply set the knife roll to suit different formats the knife carrier is articulatingly connected with the joints connecting the two links of two expanding grilles or with respectively one of the arms extending past such joints, of one of the links of the two expanding grilles. Respectively one inner joint of a link of one of the two expanding grilles is arranged fixedly on a knife roller shaft and the respectively other inner joint of the other link is arranged for adjustment in the axial direction on or in the knife roll shaft.
Abstract:
A counter-strip for a perforating device in a signature perforating assembly for a printing press is made of a resilient material and has a linearly extending bore. A support is placed in the bore and has a number of openings which will not interfere with the operation of perforating blades that are used to perforate signatures. The counter-strip is positioned in a counter-perforating cylinder and is supplied with compressed air that is used to remove paper dust from the bore.
Abstract:
Improved slotter wheel apparatus (20) for use in the formation of box blanks is provided which includes a rotatable wheel (22) supporting a shiftable blade holder (24) and a slotting blade (26), with cooperating cam track (174) and follower (86) structure for selective shifting of blade (26) between an extended slotting position and a retracted blank-clearing position. An activation/deactivation assembly (30) allows the operator to separate cam track (174) from follower (88), thereby permitting use of apparatus (20) as a conventional, high speed, fixed blade slotter. A shock absorbing assembly (27) including a bridge piece (138) operably coupled with blade holder (24) and resilient pads (152, 154) serve to absorb potentially destructive mechanical loads experienced during outward shifting of the blade holder (24) and blade (26).
Abstract:
A process for die cutting a sheet of thermoplastic material imprintd with information or data of limited spatial displacement therebetween wherein the data is sequentially die cut in alternating rows and lines in a plurality of registered die cutting stations until all such pieces have been die cut generally in like sizes or pieces and wherein each piece is in residual attachment to the sheet of thermoplastic material.
Abstract:
A package comprises a container having an open end defined by end structure forming a sealing portion and a rim surrounding the open end and a tamper evident lid closing the container end. The lid comprises seal structure in sealing engagement with the container sealing portion and a skirt disposed about the end structure and extending from the rim along the container in a direction away from the open end. The skirt defines a first skirt portion adjacent the rim and a second tear strip portion extending from the first skirt portion. The skirt portions are connected by a plurality of narrow necks extending between skirt perforations. Latching projections formed in the tear strip portion extend inwardly from the skirt in a direction toward the end opening. The projections latch with the container rim and engage the container rim for tearing the necks to strip off the tear strip when the lid is removed from the container.
Abstract:
A multi-part form assembly, including a plurality of superimposed webs, is divided by cross perforations into a series of connected separable form parts, each web including at least one edge section defined by a longitudinal perforation extending lengthwise of the webs spaced inward from an edge of the webs and the edge sections has line holes therethrough. The improvement comprises the webs being connected at the edge sections by lines of adhesive arranged alternately on opposite sides of the line holes and each of the edge sections having pairs of nonintersecting cuts located on opposite sides of each hole. The cuts extend in one direction toward the next hole and in the opposite direction outward of the next hole, defining pairs of connecting strips which allow limited separation and flexing of the webs. Also disclosed are an apparatus and method of making such a form assembly.
Abstract:
A method for providing a nonlinear line of weakness on a web material including providing: a base, a support, a blade, and a driving means. The base may comprise at least one counter component having a length (LCC) where the counter component comprises a nonlinear shape having a shape width (W). The support may be operatively engaged with the base. The blade may have a length (LB) and may be disposed on the support so as to either contact or to come in close proximity with the counter component. At least one of the counter component and the blade may have a nonlinear shape. The driving means may be associated with one of the support or the base to reciprocally shift the one of the support or the base with respect to the other of the base or the support for a distance (D) in a shifting direction.
