The cross members support inclined roll supports at both ends. The base of the machine is mounted on castor wheels for portability. Paper and masking tape applied to an edge of the paper are guided out of the machine by horizontal guide rods and outer cutter bars which are conveniently positioned across the front of the frame.

The present invention relates to a film transfer tool which allows a transfer head to be disposed in any of spaces between letters of normally used word processors for implementation of a smooth transfer operation of film, wherein a feed reel 2 and a take-up reel 3 which are adapted to interlock with each other are disposed within a case 1, and a film transfer tape a is fed out from the feed reel 2 to be moved along the surface of a paper S while being pressed thereagainst by a transfer head 4 protruding from the case 1 and is then taken up by the take-up reel 3 as a tape from which film has been transferred. Then, the transfer head 4 is constituted by a support frame 6 for allowing the transfer head 4 to be provided in the case 1 in such a manner as to protrude therefrom and a transfer roller 12 provided in such a manner as to rotatably extend between facing side pieces 6b, 6b of the support frame 6 and having an outside diameter ranging from 1 mm to 3 mm. A resilient member 11 constituting an outer circumferential layer of the transfer roller 12 of the transfer head 4 is provided over the resilient member 11, and the film transfer tape a is brought into press contact with an axially intermediate portion of the resilient member 11. Also, the present invention is to provide a method for producing a small diameter roller for use for a transfer head of a film transfer tool which is simple in construction and inexpensive in cost and which can obtain higher production accuracy. The present invention solves the above problem by various types of production methods which will be described below. A first method is a production method in which the small roller is produced by placing a heat shrinkable tube over a core material, heating the heat shrinkable tube so placed over the core material so that the heat shrinkable tube so heated shrinks to cover the core material. A second method is a production method in which the small diameter roller is produced by submerging a rubber or silicone tube which is formed so as to have an inside diameter smaller than the outside diameter of a core material in petroleum oil or an organic solvent to let the tube swell, placing the tube that has so swollen over the core material and letting the tube so placed dry to shrink to thereby cover the core material. A third method is a production method in which the small diameter roller is produced by forming rubber film over a core material through painting or coating the core material. A fourth method is a production method in which the small diameter roller is produced by insert molding a rubber-like material on an outer circumferential surface of a core material. A fifth method is a production method in which the small diameter roller is produced by loosely fitting on a small diameter shaft which is cut to a suitable dimension a hollow shaft formed so as to have an inside diameter which is larger than the outside diameter of the small diameter shaft and is cut to a suitable dimension. A sixth method is a production method in which the small diameter roller is produced by forming a core material and a resilient portion simultaneously through two-color extrusion molding and thereafter cutting the core material and resilient portion so formed to a suitable dimension. A seventh method is a production method in which the small diameter roller is produced by skiving a resin or metallic material.

The device has a housing in which a supply of the backing tape and a take-up device for the backing tape are arranged, and an application member which projects from the housing. The application member has an application gib and is pivotably connected to an application base supported at the housing about a swivelling axis extending transversely to the projecting application gib. The application member has two lateral support legs arranged at a distance from the application edge and defining an abutment plane with the application edge which abuts on the substrate in the mode of operation of the hand-held device. In order to enhance the bearing characteristics of the application member, the joint is provided in the projection onto the abutment plane between the support legs and the application edge.

Embodiment of a disclosed seam tool comprise a rigid backing configured to be positioned about a seam region defined by at least two adjacent pattern segments. The rigid backing further includes an injection port and, typically, a gas outlet port, fluidly coupled to the seam region. The disclosed device may further include a resilient liner which contacts and forms a seal with surfaces of the pattern segments. Compensating grooves may be formed in the resilient material to allow complete filling of the seam region by weld-forming material. An injection fitting may be operably coupled to an injection port to provide an improved ability to receive weld-forming material to form welds. A method for forming a weld between plural, adjacently positioned pattern segments also is disclosed. The method comprises positioning the disclosed embodiments of the seam tool about a seam region defined between adjacent pattern segments. A weld-forming material is introduced into an injection port fluidly coupled to the seam region, and allowed to solidify to form a weld. In other embodiments, a seam tool may include an air bladder.

A tape dispensing channel extends from the tape roll chamber. The tape dispensing channel is configured to twist the tape approximately 90null about its longitudinal axis. Additionally, the tape dispensing channel is oriented such that the axis of the tape at the end of the tape dispensing channel is aligned at an acute angle to a plane defined by the axis of the tape wound onto the roll of tape. A window is defined near the end of the tape dispensing channel to enable an index finger to apply pressure to the non-adhesive surface of the tape for urging the adhesive surface of the tape against a substrate. A blade support wall is disposed distally of the window and includes a serrated blade for severing the tape. The device provides a chamber for holding a supply roll of backing tape and stick-on material so that backing tape and adhered stick-on material can be payed out from the roll in a first direction. The tape is guided along a path that causes the tape initially to extend in said first direction and then in a second direction angularly related to the first direction so that as the tape changes direction, it separates from the stick-on material. A drive member, conveniently a roller, engages the application surface and the tape after it has been separated from the stick-on material so that movement of the drive member over the surface by hand manipulation of the device causes the drive member to pull the empty tape from the holding chamber and move it along the path to a take-up chamber. As the device and drive member continue to be moved, the stick-on material is dispensed on and applied to the surface and the empty tape is stored in the take-up chamber.

A tape dispenser for applying adhesive tape to a substrate surface, the tape having a first surface with a pressure sensitive adhesive thereon and a second surface. The dispenser includes a housing suitable for holding and dispensing a roll of tape. The housing has an exterior application surface that has a tape dispensing opening therein. A plurality of cylindrical rollers are provided within the housing, each roller having an outer surface. The outer surfaces of the rollers coact with each other and the tape surfaces to retain, guide and feed the tape through the tape dispensing opening to the exterior application surface. The outer surface of at least one of the rollers protrudes through the application surface on one side of the opening enabling frictional contact of the roller surface with the substrate surface. When the application surface of the tape dispenser is drawn over the substrate surface in one direction the outer surface of the roller engages the substrate surface causing the roller to roll along the substrate surface and to coact and drive the outer surfaces of the other rollers. This causes the rollers to grip the surfaces of the tape and feed the tape through the opening enabling the first surface of the tape with the pressure sensitive adhesive thereon to contact the substrate surface and adhere thereto. Optionally, the outer surface of another of the rollers protrudes through the application surface on the other side of the opening to contact the second surface of the tape as it is fed through the opening. Thus when the application surface of the tape dispenser is drawn over the substrate surface in the one direction the outer surface of this other roller contacts the second surface of the tape to apply pressure to the tape causing the first surface of the tape with the pressure sensitive adhesive thereon to adhere to the substrate. A cutting blade is mounted to the application surface on the one side of the opening with the cutting edge facing the interior of the housing, whereby when the dispenser is moved in a direction different than the one direction, the tape is cut by the blade.
