Abstract:
Described are contact lenses containing light absorbing chromophores, wherein the light absorbing chromophore is concentrated in one or more select regions of the lens. Also described are methods for making such contact lenses.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to provide a coloring composition with which a light absorption anisotropic film maintaining an excellent dichroic ratio and having good pressing resistance can be formed, and a light absorption anisotropic film, a laminate, and an image display device using the coloring composition. A coloring composition according to the invention contains: a polymer compound having a repeating unit including a crosslinkable group and a mesogenic group in the same side chain, or a polymer compound separately having a repeating unit including a crosslinkable group in a side chain and a repeating unit including a mesogenic group in a side chain; and a dichroic dye compound.

Abstract:
Dyestuffs of the formula ##STR1## wherein F stands for an organic chromophore andZ stands for radicals of the formulae ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 -R.sub.2 denote hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl or a heterocyclic structure orR.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent an optionally substituted amino group or together form a ring orR.sub.1 with R.sub.2 and/or R.sub.3 with R.sub.4 form a ring,A.sup.(-) denotes an anion,Y denotes an anionic group,m denotes 0-2 andn denotes 1-6,and wherein the chromophore and said radicals can carry further substituents, provided that the total number of anionic substituents is smaller than the total number of quaternary and quaternizable amino groups, are used for dyeing cellulose fibres, in particular paper.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to dyestuffs of the formula ##STR1## wherein A=a substituent,B=H or a substituent, with the proviso that at least one of these substituents contains a fibre-reactive group, andR.sub.1 -R.sub.4 =H or a substituent.Preferred dyestuffs I are those which contain at least two groups which confer water-solubility, in particular sulpho, sulphato or carboxyl groups.
Abstract:
The invention discloses novel basic dioxazine compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein each of X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 independently is an unbranched or branched alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group, halogen, hydrogen, cyano, a phenylamino group which is unsubstituted or substituted in the phenyl nucleus, the CONH.sub.2 group, the CONH-phenyl group which can be substituted in the phenyl moiety, or a COO--C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group; Z is a non-quaternized or quaternized basic group, Y is an anionic group, each B independently is a fused ring system containing 2 to 4 carbocyclic and/or heterocyclic rings and which, in addition to containing the substituents Z and Y, can be further substituted; n is 1 to 4 and m is 0 to 2, with the proviso that m is not greater than n.
