摘要： A construction for use in knockdown structures comprising a tubular leg, a cross-bar, and a locking member. The tubular leg has an anchoring member fixed within it adjacent one end. At least one slot is provided in the wall of the leg between the anchoring member and the one end. The cross-bar has a tab that slides into the slot and hooks onto the wall of leg. The locking member cooperates with the anchor member to hold the tab, and thus the cross-bar, in hooked position.

摘要： A framing structure comprises a vertical post of hollow metal tubing having an aperture for receiving a horizontal cross-member also of hollow metal tubing. A slot is formed near one end of the cross-member to hook onto the bottom edge of the wall defining the aperture in the post. A reinforcing plug having a slot of about the same size as the slot in the cross-member is inserted into the end of the cross-member so that the slots are in substantial register. The reinforcing plug strengthens the joint by effectively increasing the wall thickness in the area of the joint, thereby allowing use of relatively thin-walled and inexpensive cross-members without having the slots compromise the structural integrity of the framing structure.

摘要： An improved self-locking device for locking a movable structural member to a stationary structural member, or to another movable structural member, or for unlocking the same, comprising a rotatable self-locking cam and an actuating means therefor; the rotatable self-locking cam being rotatably mounted on a first structural member and having (1) an arcuate surface thereon, capable of preventing movement of a movable structural member in a first or opening direction, and (2) a cam surface thereon, capable of moving the movable structural member in the first or opening direction; and the actuating means being capable of rotating the self-locking cam in an angular direction whereby the cam surface contacts an ear on the movable structural member to forcibly move it in the first or opening direction, while the arcuate surface is being simultaneously moved out of the way of the movable structural member, due to the angular rotation of the self-locking cam, to permit the movement of the movable structural member in the first or opening direction to unlock the movable structural member from the first structural member, and then, the ear on the movable structural member being subsequently capable of rotating the self-locking cam in an angular direction opposite to that of the first angular direction, whereby the movable structural member returns to its original locked position, wherein it is prevented from moving in the first or opening direction by the arcuate surface on the rotatable self-locking cam.

摘要： Lightweight composite structures, mostly of profiled sheet metal, comprising a main joist formed from two outer sheaths interconnected by rigidifying bridges. Each sheath comprises a web with end flanges, the end flanges of one sheath being directed towards the flanges of the other sheath. Each mutually opposed pair of flanges are spaced apart to provide a slot providing access to a housing within the joist and defined by the bridge and the sheaths. 摘要： A device for joining tubular members of any cross section is disclosed. Typically, two parallel tubes are joined by a transverse tube. A rod is centered inside the transverse tube by a washer disposed at each end of the transverse tube. The rod may be threaded directly to one of the parallel tubes or to a reinforcing sleeve placed inside one of the parallel tubes. The other end of the rod has a small protuberance or head that is passed through an aperture in the wall of the other parallel tube. A wedge provided with a longitudinal slot, open at the thinner end of the wedge, is forced to engage with the head of the rod. The slot of the wedge is of a width slightly greater than the diameter of the rod such that the slot is easily engaged by the rod. The rod is subjected to tension stress and the transverse tube is subjected to compression stress. A rigid structure is provided having a smooth external joint, the fastening means being wholly disposed within the tubular members. The present invention has particular utility with reference to the joining of tubular bed frame members.
