摘要: Provided is an irradiation-crosslinked ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) composition containing: EPDM 30 to 80 phr (parts per hundred resin) free of a crosslinking agent, a polyolefin (PO) resin 10 to 50 phr, a silicone rubber 5 to 40 phr, a flame retardant 20 to 30 phr, a crosslinking accelerator 5 to 10 phr, a crosslinking assistant 1 to 5 phr, an antioxidant 5 to 15 phr, and a lubricant 0.25 to 5 phr. Provided is a cable produced by: providing the irradiation-crosslinked EPDM composition; first kneading the composition using a kneader; second kneading the first kneaded composition using a roll mill; extruding the second kneaded composition using an extruder, and then cutting the extruded composition to produce pellets as a raw material for the cable; forming a cable of a predetermined length by extruding the pellets using an extruder; and irradiation-crosslinking the formed cable using an electron beam accelerator.

摘要: A new dielectric material for a communication cable has a dielectric base with strength members embedded therein. By a new process, vacuum voids are formed in the dielectric base and at least partially contain or abut the strength members. The material is particularly well suited for a first dielectric tape, where the cable includes a first insulated conductor, the first dielectric tape and a second insulated conductor, with the first insulated conductor being twisted with the second insulated conductor with the first dielectric tape residing between the first insulated conductor and the second insulated conductor. The material is also suitable for a separator of the cable serving to separate twisted pairs from each other within the cable, as well as other components of the cable, such as an insulation layer of one or more of the insulated conductors of the twisted pairs.

摘要: Systems and methods for forming insulation on magnet wire are provided. An extruder that includes one or more rotating screws may receive a plurality of ingredients for a polymeric insulation material and process the plurality of ingredients to facilitate polymerization of the polymeric insulation material within the extruder. An application assembly in fluid communication with the extruder may apply the polymeric insulation material onto a wire. A curing device may then cure the polymeric insulation material.

摘要: A dielectric isolator for a twisted pair cable includes a body formed as an elongate strip with a top surface, bottom surface, a first side edge and a second side edge. A first slot is formed in the first side edge and extends at least half way toward the center of the isolator. A second slot is formed in the second side edge and extends at least half way toward the center of the isolator. During cable manufacturing, first and second wedges open the first and second slots. First and second twisted pairs are inserted into the first and second opened slots, respectively. Third and fourth twisted pairs reside at the top and bottom surface, respectively.

The bimodal polyethylene may include a high molecular weight portion having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 100,000 g/mol to 1,000,000 g/mol and a low molecular weight portion having a Mw of 10,000 g/mol to 80,000 g/mol. Polymer extrudates, such as cable-coatings and/or wire-coatings and films, including the bimodal polyethylene as well as methods of making the polymer extrudates are also provided.
