    摘要: A chuck with a plurality of jaws for gripping a workpiece which is operable in both the compensating and universal modes. In both modes end faces of workpieces gripped by the jaws are urged into engagement with rest pads to assure that all workpieces are held in the same axially spaced position from a spindle of a machine tool to which the chuck is secured. In the universal mode a center support assembly is axially received between the jaws of the chuck. The support assembly has a center pin which can be releasably locked by a locking member in various positions of axial displacement to assure that the center pin firmly engages in a center hole in the end face of the workpiece. Firm engagement of the center pin with the center hole assures that the workpiece will not be displaced or shifted by the stresses to which it is subjected during heavy cutting operations.

    摘要: A machine tool chuck comprising a chuck body having a plurality of clamping jaws slidably mounted thereon and connected to a compensating actuator mechanism which includes an annular member connected to the clamping jaws by intermediate lever means whereby axial displacement of the annular member causes radial displacement of the clamping jaws between open and closed positions. The annular member is radially floatably mounted on a collar which is concentric with and nonrotatably secured to the chuck body, the collar being slidable axially relative to the chuck body and being connected to a suitable power source. A combined centering and locking device coacts between the collar and the floatable annular member for permitting the floatable annular member to be automatically coaxially aligned with the collar and suitably locked in said coaxially aligned position for permitting use of the chuck with concentric clamping action. The centering mechanism, in a preferred embodiment, comprises a centering pin slidably mounted on the collar and having a conical portion adapted to be disposed into a conical recess formed in the annular member for automatically centering the annular member.

    摘要: A tool chuck may include a chuck body defining a longitudinal axis. A sleeve may be mounted on the chuck body and axially fixed relative to the chuck body. A clutch part may be provided on the sleeve. The clutch part may interact with a cooperating clutch part mounted on the power driver housing. The cooperating clutch part may be mounted on the power driver housing for movement between a first axial position in which the chuck body is rotatable together with the sleeve, and a second axial position in which the chuck body is rotatable relative to the sleeve to actuate the tool chuck. The chuck body may be rotatable in a first direction to actuate the tool chuck up to a first torque threshold, and rotatable in a second direction to actuate the tool chuck up to a second, different torque threshold.
