摘要: The invention relates to a method for thermally connecting at least two workpiece sections, wherein at least a first and second workpiece section are provided, wherein at least the first workpiece section comprises an edge (1.1, 1.1′, 1.1″, 1.1′″) and the edge (1.1, 1.1′, 1.1″, 1.1′″) defines a termination of an edge section (1.2, 1.2′, 1.2″, 1.2′″), the first and second workpiece sections are positioned relative to one another in such a way that they are connected to one another at least in certain sections in their longitudinal extent, wherein the edge section (1.2, 1.2′, 1.2″, 1.2′″) has a defined geometry. According to the invention, the defined geometry of the edge section (1.2, 1.2′, 1.2″, 1.2′″) is dimensioned in such a way that a local region in the cross section of the edge section (1.2′) is provided with a maximum thickness (tmax1′) at a distance (1.3′) from the edge (1.1′).

摘要: A method for limiting fitting distortion when welding a fitting to an in-service pipeline—where the fitting includes a thick, longitudinally extending, seam located between fitting halves—involves welding, on each side of the fitting, a middle third section of the seam in a pyramid-like fashion using an inward progression starting from an end of the middle third section along a profile of a seam bevel, and welding outer third sections of the seam using an outward progression from an end adjacent to the middle third section along a profile of the seam bevel. The welding of each of the three sections per side includes a temper bead welding technique of at least two layers to provide stress relief in lieu of traditional post weld heat treatment.

摘要: A weld with a stepped configuration is provided. The stepped configuration may be machined from a substrate to form a weld preparation which may accommodate a stepped weld. The weld with a stepped configuration and a controlled procedure exhibits improved service life and improved damage tolerance. A welded joint with a stepped configuration, a joined component with a stepped configuration, and method of welding a stepped configuration are also provided.

摘要: The disclosed apparatus, systems and methods relate to the design principles for forming a welded joint between two sections of tubing or pipe. The material at the end portion of a first section of tubing to is folded inwardly to create a support surface. This support surface improves the ability to weld light gage material with traditional arc welding and it creates conditions to allow brazing to be as strong as traditional arc welding by using A shaped piece of filler material which is located at the intersection between the support surface of the first section of tubing and a side wall section of the second section of tubing. While holding together the first and second sections of tubing with the filler material, heat is applied at the intersection at a temperature and for a duration sufficient to melt the filler material and form the 3t joint.

摘要: A heat-weldable weld fitting that has a cylindrical fitting main body portion. The cylindrical fitting main body portion includes an outer periphery including a first end portion, a second end portion, and a middle section between the first end portion and the second end portion, and positioning scales formed at equal intervals in a peripheral direction of the second end portion of the outer periphery of the fitting main body portion. The first end portion being configured to be heated by a heater and is welded to an end portion of another weld fitting. The positioning scales are configured to define an angular portion of the weld fitting relative to the welding apparatus at the time of welding the first end portion to the first end portion of another weld fitting by matching the positioning scale with a reference mark provided on the clamp portion of the welding apparatus.

The weld joint assembly also includes a second structural member having a second thickness. The first thickness is different from the second thickness. The second structural member is connected to the first structural member through a weld joint. A plate is connected to the first and second structural members through the weld joint. The plate has a third thickness. The plate extends and abuts a surface of one of the first and second structural members and is welded thereto at outer edges of the plate leading away from the weld joint. At least a portion of the outer edge of the plate that is opposite to the weld joint is free of attachment to the surface.

摘要: A method for creating a welded steel part includes providing a first steel plate having a first base, a first intermetallic alloy layer on the first base and a first metal alloy layer on the first intermetallic alloy layer; providing a second steel plate having a second base, a second intermetallic alloy layer on the second base and a second metal alloy layer on the second intermetallic alloy layer; butt welding the first and second steel plates at a weld so as to melt material from at least the first base, the first intermetallic alloy layer, the second base and the second intermetallic layer to form a molten weld material; austenizing the welded steel plates at a temperature between Ac1 and Ac3+100 degrees C. for a time greater than or equal to 20 seconds; and cooling the welded steel plates so as to render a uniform microstructure to the weld.
