摘要： A short arc lamp in which welding of a cathode to a conductive support component yields an advantageous connection of the cathode to the conductive support component in which the thermal influences are reduced, and in which the cathode tip does not move. The short arc lamp has a body within which a concave discharge space is formed, an anode and a cathode are located in the concave discharge space, a conductive support component for supporting the cathode is connected to a feeding ring which is located in the vicinity of an open end of the reflection surface, a first metal component which is formed on one end of the body, and a second metal component which is formed on the other end of the body. In a preferred embodiment, only a single conductive support component is welded to the cathode.

Within each babe arm, in the vicinity of the emission part, a plate-shaped holding part which is made of a metal with a high melting point and through which the lead pin penetrates, is arranged roughly perpendicularly to the lead pin and serves for positioning of the electrodes.

摘要： An electrode support structure is disclosed for use in a short arc lamp. The structure includes a ring having a plurality of flaps formed therein. Struts are attached to the electrode and to the flaps. These struts may be straight and may be abutted to the electrode. The flaps can bend to minimize the stresses created by the contraction and expansion of the struts relative to the ring during the temperature cycling of assembly and operation.

摘要： A shadow mask is mounted within the faceplate panel of a cathode ray tube for color television at the top and at each side. One of the side mountings is a direct, connection which is nonresilient in a horizontal direction and formed by a bracket fixed to the shadow mask frame and defining a socket for interlocking with the side mounting stud. In one embodiment, this direct connection prevents a lateral motion of the shadow mask frame relative to the faceplate panel while permitting removal of the shadow mask by movement axially of the frame. The top and other side connections are resilient connections, and they are designed to permit a predetermined hinging motion of the shadow mask as it heats up for rotating the mask about the direct connection toward the viewing area thereby correcting for misregistration of the shadow mask apertures with their associated phosphor dot pattern as the shadow mask expands. In one embodiment, the mounting system both rotates and translates the mask toward the screen for correcting for misregistration.
