    Abstract: A dental instrument configured to measure a degree of tapering of a side wall of a tooth is described. The dental instrument may include a handle and a taper measuring component coupled to a distal end of the handle. The taper measuring component includes a first, second, and third elongated member. A bottom surface may be formed at a coupling point of the second and third elongated member, where the second elongated member is configured to be substantially vertical when the bottom surface is placed adjacent to a tooth, and the third elongated member projecting radially from the second elongated member at a predefined angle. The third elongated member is shaped and positioned to rest substantially flush along the at least one side wall of the tooth when a degree of tapering of the tooth is substantially similar to the angle, and may include a measuring component.

    Abstract: The detection and assay of fissionable material is carried out on a container known or suspected to have a material with at least one fissionable isotope. The material is irradiated with neutrons from two or more different neutron sources. The fission rates inducted at each irradiation energy are acquired with at least one neutron detector. A multispectral active neutron interrogation analysis (MANIA) is carried out to compare the detected fission rates of the neutron spectra with calculated fission rates where an iterative algorithm is carried out on a system of linear equations to solve for the isotopic composition of one or more isotopes to determine the presence, identity, and quantities of fissionable isotopes in said container.

    Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for a system configured to characterize a magnetic response of a sample. The system can comprise an electrical source configured to generate a time-varying current supply, an excitation coil system coupled to the electrical source to generate a time-vary magnetic field for application to a sample, and a sensing coil system that senses a magnetic response of the sample in response to the time-varying magnetic field. The sensing coil system can comprise a pick-up coil and a balancing coil that can be translated or rotated. The balancing coil configured to cancel a feed-through induction signal. In another embodiment, the sensing coil system can comprise an adjustable fine-tuning coil that is configured to modify an effect of the cancellation of the feed-through induction signal.
