Abstract: Systems and methods to simulate joining operations are disclosed. An example computer-implemented system for simulation of joining materials with or without filler material, includes: processing circuitry; and a machine readable storage device storing machine readable instructions which, when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to display a visual simulation of a three-dimensional joining operation within a simulation domain by simulating the simulation domain as a set of interconnected cross-sectional two dimensional slices.

Abstract: An interactive simulation system with a stereoscopic image and a method for operating the system are provided. The system includes a three-dimensional display and a control host. The stereoscopic image display is used to display a stereoscopic image. The system includes an interactive sensor that is used to sense gesture of a user or an action that the user manipulates a haptic device so as to produce sensing data. In the meantime, the system detects eye positions of the user. The changes of coordinates with respect to the gesture or the haptic device can be determined and referred to for forming a manipulation track. An interactive instruction can be determined. The stereoscopic image can be updated according to the interactive instruction and the eye positions of the user.

Abstract: Welding headwear comprises one or more image sensors, processing circuitry, and a display. The image sensor(s) are operable to capture an image of an unpowered weld torch as the torch passes along a joint of a workpiece to be welded. The processing circuitry is operable to: determine, through processing of pixel data of the image, one or more welding parameters as the torch passes along the joint to be welded; generate, based on the one or more welding parameters, a simulated weld bead; and superimpose on the image, in real time as the torch passes along the joint, the simulated weld bead on the joint. The display is operable to present, in real time as the torch passes along the joint, the image with the simulated bead overlaid on it.

An weld training system includes a display, a camera, a communications device, and a welding helmet. The communications device communicates with welding equipment. The welding helmet has a view port. The communications device is configured to hold the camera, the communications device, and the display such that, when the welding helmet is worn by a wearer, the display is viewable by the wearer, the camera has a view through the view port such that the display displays to the wearer images taken by the camera through the view port and displays a simulated object generated based on information received from the welding equipment via the communications device.

Abstract: A dent removal teaching system may include a base frame and an upper frame movably coupled, or articulating with the base frame. The upper frame may include a plurality of access holes, whereby a dent removal tool may be inserted into one of the plurality of access holes. The dent removal teaching system may also include a body panel which may be releasably secured to the upper frame, so that a user may apply force to a dent in the body panel using the dent removal tool. This combination provides a teaching environment to practice the removal of a dent from a vehicle body.
